People saying how bad the movies app is, it was blocked for a reason in this build what did you guys expect?

Same with the file app but doesn't stop people from already passing judgement...

No doubt, at least in my machine (Acer W500). Everthing is smoother.

Just gave up on it because of the Store, that doesn't work (or works, but you need a MS ID).

Yeah guess we'll have to wait for BUILD 2013 to get the proper build and store access!

Is there a 64 bit version yet?

Not yet, I'm actually starting to think more and more that MS leaks these builds on their own and we mostly only see the 32bit version that's also the more VM friendly one for that reason. Just look at the history, Vista had lot's of leaks, then with Win7 MS put's a new boss in charge of windows and leaks start to go down to the point of Windows 8 not having any iirc. Now there's other people in charge and once again we get a leak after they pass M1 and have enough new stuff so people can talk about it.

As far as I can see, it's going down the same path as Windows 8... Nothing special.

Nothing special? This is setting the stage for the next 10 or so years for Windows. This is what Windows 8 should have been all along. To be dismissive of it before seeing the final product is not the way to go.

In terms of tablet devices, yes, it's significant. To desktop users, it's hardly worth upgrading from 7 at the moment. However, I see more and more people using devices like the Slate in the future. Correction: it's "special".

We might not see more desktop side changes till Windows 9 but it's metro that is immature of the two so it makes sense that they target that first. Still, who knows for sure? All we've seen is a M1 early build.

The new concatenated search!! Very very buggy, wouldn't recommend altering your reg for it, will restart explorer if you search things other than skydrive and a handfull of others. Definitely looks promising however!! Lets hope MS pulls of the whole wave of Blue updates really smoothly!

hardly worth upgrading? There is a plenty of stuff in 8 that caters desktop users. Multi-monitor improvements, task manager, file copy/move dialogs, explorer ribbon, hyperV, overall performance etc. If nothing else, desktop users should benefit from at least more performance improvements in 8.1

One thing I dont get is are they going to release Blue as an update through Windows update or as a complete OS and you'll have to do fresh install as with these partner builds?

Nobody knows for sure.

If its free then it can be delivered either from Windows Update or Windows Store.

If its paid, then 99.9% will be delivered from WIndows Store.

That's not what I'm asking. I mean would it require a fresh install and reinstalling all my software like these leaked builds, or will it be just an update and will install over my current setup like the service packs before.

I bet you can do both depending on what you want. Upgrade like a SP or do a full install for those not already on 8 etc.

You will be able to do both. Update an existing machine or clean install.

Indeed, they are obviously not going to make everyone reinstall or there crap, nor are they going to make you install Windows 8 then install Blue over the top! We still are unsure of how this update will actually get to consumers though, it will most likely be a free update, as in if you have a Windows 8 license then you have a Blue license because thats how it works in the leaked builds but if for some strange reason it was paid then it would have to come through the Windows Store somehow or perhaps through a retail or download from Microsoft.com? Not likely at all, the logistics would be too much of a pain and if MS wants to restore some "faith" in Windows 8 they will want to push this update to as many devices as possible, as soon as possible!

    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
