Jaehend
I know this will sound incredibly weird but has there been any thought to an autopather 98? I only ask as I have some friends whom I do computer work for who still use Win98 and this would make my work faster. Either that or I just missed it somewhere on the web. Yes, it's been discussed and it is possible to do, though we won't make an official one. You can check out the work done on an Unofficial AutoPatcher 98 here: Can Autopatcher be customized for Win98/ME patches Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1570847 Share on other sites
RickoSauve
Please help me with sysmetrix21.msi I am having issues running autopatcher. When I click on the .exe and begin the install sysmetrix21.msi is not found and brings up an error. At first I thought this was because I downloaded the update and not the full version. However the file I downloaded is 202MB which is the size of the full download. I would appreciate any help that I could receive as this is very frustrating. In addition I am hoping to add this is an unattended WinXP cd and have it completely updated before I even touch the computer. I would be more then happy to post anything that I figure out if anyone is interested. Thank you Edited January 10, 2004 by FlishFun Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1576463 Share on other sites

First, That is the right size... second, I don't know what sysmetrix21.msi is... I've never heard of it, and it's not part of AutoPatcher. Could you give us any more info? :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1577563 Share on other sites
RickoSauve
I figured out the problem. Autopatcher seems to have a conflict with another program that I had installed called sysmetrix. Since I never used the program I uninstalled it and everything works great. Thanks for the help Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1579330 Share on other sites

aggrophobik
Is this only to be used w/ a fresh install of XP? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1701309 Share on other sites
FlishFun Veteran Posted February 6, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted February 6, 2004 Is this only to be used w/ a fresh install of XP? Nope, it can be used on your version of XP right now. If you've already installed any updates via Windows Update or manually, it will detect them and deselect them before you begin. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1701343 Share on other sites

akaladis Veteran Posted February 6, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 6, 2004 blay, watch out for uxtheme option! if you got software like stylexp, uxtheme patcher might cause problems to it... also.. if you have already installed some hotfixes through windows update, its sometime wise not to select uxtheme patcher, since Microsoft has done quite a few tricks with uxtheme.dll in SP2 (and some Pre-SP2 hotfixes...) /Raptor Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1701772 Share on other sites

FlishFun Veteran Posted February 6, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted February 6, 2004 If I am just running an already hacked version, should I uncheck that option? No, pretty much only if you're running StyleXP2. Now do I need to keep the files I downloaded on my HD, or can they be deleted? Thanks! You can delete them, but if you want to upgrade next month, just keep the big exe somewhere (to update you must have an extracted copy of the AP somewhere on your system). ynohtna
so, I have a laptop where I used autopatcher nov, then used windows update, what happens if I use january full? Will february detect all patches on my computer including ones not done through autopatcher and through windows update? akaladis Veteran Posted February 25, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2004 yes, that should be pretty-much the case... however some entries might *not* be detected (from the ones not found in the registry, but in autopatcher log), because the differences between jan and feb release are comparable to those of wi9x kernel vs winnt kernel :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1772102 Share on other sites

akaladis Veteran Posted February 25, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2004 it can... registry for sure... and most entries found in the log *will* be detected... only a couple might now, since many things have changed... FlishFun Veteran Posted February 25, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2004 it can... registry for sure... and most entries found in the log *will* be detected... only a couple might now, since many things have changed... Also, some things aren't listed in the registry where we check... or if they are, sometimes they will not update the name if they update the version. So I'd say it works with about 90% accuracy. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/114367-autopatcher-xp-faq/page/2/#findComment-1772526 Share on other sites

FlishFun Veteran Posted February 25, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2004 heh... better than nothin... :/ And the brightside, it's not harmful to install a patch more than once, so if it misses it and you reinstall it, it won't hurt your system.
