Hi All.

This is my 1st post here at Neowin, so 1st up, My Congrats Raptor & FlishFun for developing AutoPatcher, the magnificent tool that it is!

I've only been a user since the January version, but I already absolutely love it.

As a PC VAR, I do 5h173 loads of installs, thus AutoPatcher has become indispensable to me.

As for detecting already installed patches....

When I made my slipstreamed XP Pro SP1a disc, I also slipstreamed in Rollup1.

I have noticed that AutoPatcher can't detect that Rollup1 is installed, when Rollup1 is slipstreamed into the XP install.

I figure u guys are probably already aware of this, but I posted about it just in case. :cool:

actually, i wasnt aware of that... do you happen to know of anyway to detect it through the registry?

I havn't spent heaps of time on it, but I have searched & trolled the registry & turned up nada so far.

I imagine there must be clues somewhere, if I find any thing, I'll let u know.

How exactly does windowsupdate detects hotfixes/patches/etc?

the last tiem i used this was in feb half the patches didnt install and the server that it was used on ended up getting hacked due to the missing patches, was about 15 patches that failed install if i recall, kinda put me of this program, its just as quick to run windows update imho

You used this on a server?? It's for Windows XP only. Silly rabbit.

Is there somewhere that has a list of what the actual Program names are for the Various Things, The current 4.5 version of Autopatcher wont work with my Slipstreamed SP2 Windows Disc, If i new the actuall programs, I could install the Custom options I wanted until the SP2 version of AutopatcherXP Comes out.

flish, I know this question has been asked to a certain degree, but I would like some more clarity. just exactly what is the file size for "Autopatcher lite 4.6" ? on the forms,you have the file size as "199MB, when I went to "PlanetMirror" to see what the file size was, my download manager showed it at 212MB, I downloaded it from another mirror web site and the file size was a little over 160MB. Why all the different file size discrepancies for supposedly the same file??

It depends on which sub-version you're downloading. See here:

Full File Size: 276 MB (7z Executable)

Update Package Size: 86.8 MB (7z Executable)

Lite Package Size: 199 MB (7z Executable)

UltraLite Package Size: 101 MB (7z Executable)

Tweak Package Size: 76.1 MB (7z Executable)

Patcher Version: 4.6.24 Final - August Update

Using BitTorent might be my best option, considering I cannot trust some of the mirror web sites.
