and "4. Can I make requests for features?

Yes, please make them in the original thread until an official request thread is made."

Not this month... lol Was last month. Too many left over suggestions I still wanna add, so there's no official suggestion forum this month.

I know this will sound incredibly weird but has there been any thought to an autopather 98? I only ask as I have some friends whom I do computer work for who still use Win98 and this would make my work faster. Either that or I just missed it somewhere on the web.

Yes, it's been discussed and it is possible to do, though we won't make an official one. You can check out the work done on an Unofficial AutoPatcher 98 here: Can Autopatcher be customized for Win98/ME patches

Please help me with sysmetrix21.msi

I am having issues running autopatcher. When I click on the .exe and begin the install sysmetrix21.msi is not found and brings up an error. At first I thought this was because I downloaded the update and not the full version. However the file I downloaded is 202MB which is the size of the full download. I would appreciate any help that I could receive as this is very frustrating. In addition I am hoping to add this is an unattended WinXP cd and have it completely updated before I even touch the computer. I would be more then happy to post anything that I figure out if anyone is interested. Thank you

There... that fixes the HUGE type. Now then, you've posted this in another thread already. First, That is the right size... second, I don't know what sysmetrix21.msi is... I've never heard of it, and it's not part of AutoPatcher. Could you give us any more info? :)

make a file named sysmetrix.axp, open it with notepad and write:

"%AutoPatcherXP_Dir%\ProgFiles\sysmetrix21.msi /needed /switches /to /make /silent"

save it and then open the database

make both Targets (normal and NoBackup) point to AXPFiles\sysmetrix.axp

:D

If you need any more help, you can PM me and i can help you directly...

Is this only to be used w/ a fresh install of XP?

Nope, it can be used on your version of XP right now. If you've already installed any updates via Windows Update or manually, it will detect them and deselect them before you begin. :)

blay, watch out for uxtheme option! if you got software like stylexp, uxtheme patcher might cause problems to it... also.. if you have already installed some hotfixes through windows update, its sometime wise not to select uxtheme patcher, since Microsoft has done quite a few tricks with uxtheme.dll in SP2 (and some Pre-SP2 hotfixes...)

Well, everything seems to have went well. Great proggy! Now do I need to keep the files I downloaded on my HD, or can they be deleted?

Thanks! You can delete them, but if you want to upgrade next month, just keep the big exe somewhere (to update you must have an extracted copy of the AP somewhere on your system).

yes, that should be pretty-much the case... however some entries might *not* be detected (from the ones not found in the registry, but in autopatcher log), because the differences between jan and feb release are comparable to those of wi9x kernel vs winnt kernel :p

it can... registry for sure... and most entries found in the log *will* be detected... only a couple might now, since many things have changed...

Also, some things aren't listed in the registry where we check... or if they are, sometimes they will not update the name if they update the version. So I'd say it works with about 90% accuracy. :)

    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
