Suggestion for a new switch: /stopsumon

What's that stand for? Stop Startup Monitor.

This would be handy for those users who use Startup Monitor and wish to shut it down while AutoPatcher is running. Since AutoPatcher reboots at the end anyway Startup Monitor will resume running after boot.

Don't know if any of you knows this site but it has a lot of info on silent installs

<a href='http://unattended.<< spam >>' target='_blank'>http://unattended.<< spam >></a>. saves a lot of time i think ;)

I'm sure everyone's visited the SPAM web site at least once. :p

Seriously, yes they have a lot of switches, but the number of switches they're missing... Half the software on my unattended CD I had to figure out the switches myself 'cause they couldn't be found anywhere.

hey, i have created a website to stop this from happening so everyone has a place to submit the new ones they find here: apswitches.matt74441.ca its still in the early process of being created. well rather its almost done ignoreing the lack of switches! but it would be much appretiated if you submited new ones you found there :-D and btw if i was to scower the forum for the switches already posted, should i include who found them? or is that trival inofrmation seeing as it is remotly public knowledge?

As nice as that way of installing Adobe is I've found that extracting it gives you much more options including the ability to remove the ad's from inside of Acrobat reader by using transforms which I'm unsure of how to use without extracting it to msi first.

Anyone found a way to supress the reboot for Alcohol120%? I'm using the following:

@echo off
title Install Alcohol

echo Here we go..

echo.
echo Starting Install....
start /wait setup.msi /qn /REBOOT=ReallySuppress
REGEDIT /S alcohol120.reg

echo.
pause
exit

The problem is that when I run it I get an "Incorrect command line parameters" error. Now, since it's an MSI file it should support the REBOOT switch but it doesn't seem to.

Then again, I tried to run msiexec from Windows/System32 and I got the same error so perhaps this is an error in my XP installation?

I tried using setup.exe instead of setup.msi (seems to be a Windows Installer package) but that produced the same result.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cod

No matter, I figured it myself - opened it with Wise for Windows Installer and removed all the force reboot and schedule reboot options and recompiled into an msi file. Now the bat file only needs to execute with /qn. Reboot is not a problem anymore :)

Now for the rest of the programs!

Found the product in Maximum PC and I'm well and truly impressed. However, my environment abounds with PEBKAC errors  so I'm wondering if there's any way to switch on a TRULY silent install, where it runs in the background without displaying anything on the screen.

I'm this close to convincing my boss to let us use it, but I need your help.

This should do it:

%Drive%\%PATH%\AutoPatcher.exe /unattend /noeula /nochecks /noreboot /nonags

Test it yourself and let us know how it works for you.

Hrmm, I use this command in my unattended installs and I still see the splash screen with the progress indicators:

autopatcher.exe /unattend /noregchecks /noeula /nonags /noreboot

Granted, I use /noregchecks and yours shows /nochecks, that has nothing to do with "no screens".

AutoPatcher 5.0 will have three types of unattended... "Unattended Tiers" i like to call them.

1. as we know it today

2. with only a tiny window saying something like "AutoPatcher is installing items..."

3. which will be completely invisible :)

Very cool, thanks. Just so I can let my boss know, when might this be coming out? Several people are also questioning why I'm still giving them the August release when it's late November.

Win2k version works like a charm, though. Kudos!

AutoPatcher 5.0 development is going better than initially planned, so it could be out in a week or two. Also, since we're moving away from database-logic, Flishfun will have to 'learn' how to handle modules well. Of course, he has already been given a preview release I so far I think he's having no trouble adjusting to the new module-based system.

Yep, all is well so far. And I don't know about "a week or two"... I'd say "in time for the next releases". (Y)
