Gran Turismo 6 Thoughts/Predictions

Recommended Posts

Gran Turismo 6 might be announced today and websites are saying it will be for the PS3. One thing that worries me is what if Gran Turismo 6 is just Gran Turismo 5 with a bunch of DLC and updates added? I am hoping Gran Turismo 6 is a whole new game with even better graphics, all the tracks from the previous GTs, all the standard cars built from the ground up, new tracks, simplified menus, better multiplayer, and fast loading times. Gran Turismo 6 might be built upon the Gran Turismo 5 core. Gran Turismo 6 may be announced, but we will have to see how long it takes to be released!

What do you predict and your thoughts for Gran Turismo 6?

New:

New screen shots of Gran Turismo 6 have been released! The menu appears more simplistic! According to this there will be 1200 cars (all premium?) and 19 tracks which hopefully have a lot of the tracks from the previous games!

My prediction: Will be delayed at least once, and not enough new content to justify the price tag.

I see it as a rushed-release to coincide with the 15th anniversary. They have a new physics engine which they'll dress-up in GT5's clothes. A half way house between GT5 and the PS4 game.

Also, it will be brilliant.

I am really hoping some of the best tracks will return like Grand Canyon, El Capitan, Grinderwald, Midfield, Test Course, Hong Kong, New York, Tahiti Maze, Apricot Hill!

To keep it short, Kazunori Yamauchi said Gran Turismo 6 will have 71 tracks with 33 layouts,1200 cars (unknown if all premium), a new rendering engine with adaptive tesselation, new physics and suspension engine, simpler menus and faster loading times.

I don't understand why they didn't make this a PS4 launch title...?

Because Polyphony is slow and if they had to switch to a whole new platform you'd be waiting 5 years for it.

In the past, Polyphony released two GT games for each console, GT1 and GT2 for the PS1, GT3 and GT4 for the PS3 and GT6 and GT7 for the PS3. Then for the PS4, they will have GT 7 and GT8. I think Polyphony has a release cycle in place for the playstation.

I think Polyphony needs to strongly reconsider Gran Turismo 6. They need to at least get a version GT6 for the Playstation 4 prepared for the PS4 launch! I think Gran Turismo 6 is being launched in the completely wrong time. First the PS4 is nearing announcement, and the Xbox One was announced and Forza 5 is coming out too.

Well I was going to look at this site at other articles. Not any more.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 for each and every article you visit.

Polyphony has dug itself into a hole now by releasing GT6 for the PS3! The only way out is if Polyphony changes plans and gets working on GT6 ported for the new PS4!

The actual sim racer audience is very small in the total console gamer audience though.

Hopefully GT6 for the PS3 won't be overshadowed by the release of PS4, it could be a huge deal breaker.

It will, not only that but it's getting stomped by the superior Forza 5. The fact this thread has been dead for months pretty much sums up the luke warm reception GT6 will get sadly. I totally understand why GT6 is on PS3, just the timing is completely wrong. This game should of been released a year ago not now! Anyway, since I don't plan to get a PS4/X1 straight away so I'll be one of the few handful actually getting GT6, personally I'm looking forward to it. On another note, did anyone notice PD seem to have lost the TopGear license to Turn 10? I'll be honest, I'll miss being able to race on the TopGear Test Track but with how abysmally they treated the license in GT5 I'm not surprised they lost it. Turn 10 really made use of it in Forza 4 and it looks like they plan to expand that association even more in Forza 5.

EDIT: Yeah, seems MS bought exclusive rights to TopGear for Forza 5 (the track looks mind bendingly good on Forza 5 too). So no TGTT for GT6 :( oh well.

I don't have any plans to get either next-gen console, and I'm already fairly well-catered for sim racers with Project CARS and iRacing. But nevertheless, I'll be getting GT6 too, just not straight away this time around; I'll wait for it to drop in price. I spent so many hours and had a lot of fun in GT5, and GT6 looks like it'll be more of the same; the Goodwood Hill Climb already sealed the deal for me, but Brands Hatch and Bathurst are pretty nice additions too. :)

I'm not too fussed about the Top Gear Test Track myself. Ignoring that it is Top Gear, there isn't really anything amazing about it. Much rather have the Nordschliefe, for example.

Not as hyped for it as GT5, but I'm still looking forward to GT6 as I don't want a next-gen GT/Forza until there is wheel support. I'm sure I'll enjoy it if only for racing my friend round Bathurst and Brands Hatch like we used to in TRD3 (back when racing games had loads of really good tracks instead of just well known ones).

I don't recall MS actually buying exclusivity on TopGear. not for the track anyway. for a while they both had the license. sure PD simply decided not to renew ? if MS bought exclusivity you'd think they would announe they had exclusivity and not just that they had a license. or maybe they upgraded to exclusivity for Forza 5.

Mixed feelings about GT6. From what I read (correct me if I'm wrong): most cars will be a straight import from GT5. I'll wait this one out and watch some in-depth reviews before buying this one. Why? I'm afraid if I buy GT6, I'll be looking at nothing more than a polished version of GT5. Unless they make all cars premium... so I can drive my favorite cars using the dashboard cam. That'd be awesome, but I'm afraid that's just an utopia.

It could be not sure. Been trying to find out, all I could find was an quote from one of the producers on TopGear saying that they chose to go with Turn 10 because they were better aligned with what they wanted to do. Couldn't find a source for the quote so didn't link to it as it might of been made up. Haven't been able to find anything else, it's mostly speculation but does make sense when you think about it.

PD had a lot of TopGear content planned for GT5 when they announced the partnership and with all the delays all we got was a track and some novelty races and no branding to advertise they had it. The rumors had it Turn 10 had brokered a deal with the BBC during the delays (of GT5) for Forza 4 and the producers liked what they did and continued it with Forza 5. No idea how much is true but I am inclined to believe at least some truth in it. Take with a grain of salt.

Except that is exactly what GT6 is, a refined version of GT5. People expecting something brand new or just very different will be disappointed. The second release on the same platform is always a refinement. That said I'm sure there will be a few surprises. For example standard and premium models are no longer segregated and apparently the standard models have been "upgraded". No idea what that means but does sound interesting.

I agree. And for this it should be GT5.5 and cost ?20. I think it's a bit cynical to charge full price for a game that seems like an incremental update.

    • Latest Rufus update improves new Windows 11 install method by Taras Buria Pete Batard, the maker of Rufus, a very popular app for creating bootable Windows (and other OS) media, has released a new beta version of its app. Rufus 4.15 beta is now out, and while it offers no new features, there are all sorts of improvements and fixes, including for the new Windows 11 installation method that was introduced in version 4.14 in early May. The "Silent Windows 11 installation" is a new feature whose goal is to automate operating system installation. All you have to do is boot from the drive, and then Rufus takes over, doing all things for you, such as setting up a new account, skipping ads and prompts, and more. It is a very handy tool, but initially, it had some bugs and issues that required addressing. With version 4.15 beta, Rufus is fixing that, particularly a bug with installation failing at 75%, crashes on Snapdragon X-based PCs, and more. Here is the changelog: Rufus 4.15 beta is now available for download from its GitHub repository. If you have never used Rufus before, you can check out our guide here. It is a very useful utility to have, as it allows you to deal with plenty of Windows 11's annoyances, which are still there, despite Microsoft's ongoing efforts to fix them.
    • Microsoft fixes one of Excel Copilot's most frustrating limitations by Usama Jawad Microsoft began integrating Copilot into Excel a couple of years ago and has been upgrading it with new functionalities since then. While some changes have been controversial, Microsoft is hoping to win over users by allowing them to be more productive via Copilot. To that end, it has now announced a Copilot improvement that may actually be appreciated by people who use it regularly. Excel customers often use the Copilot prompt box to issue instructions to format and customize their data, but it can become quite tiring to keep repeating the same instructions again and again. Microsoft now allows you to define Copilot personalization rules for formatting, naming conventions, formulas, and report styles. These can be accessed via Settings > Personalization, where you can explain your rules in natural language like "Always format currency in USD with no decimals", and just let Copilot take care of the rest. Microsoft is going a step further in this direction by allowing you to set workbook rules too. These rules are stored as a .Rules sheet, and are preserved while the workbook is shared. This fosters collaboration while making sure that standard rules govern the Copilot editing experience across the organization. Other advantages of this capability include pointing it to specific examples, defining dynamic formulas, and referencing an entire sheet and asking Copilot to infer rules based on that. You can leverage this feature by opening Copilot in Excel, clicking on "+", and selecting Create workbook rules. If you have an existing .Rules sheet, you can simply start listing the rules in column A as well. Personalization features are available to all Copilot in Excel users across the web, Mac, and Windows. Meanwhile, workbook rules are currently being previewed for Windows and Mac customers on the Insiders channel. General availability is scheduled after a few weeks, but a concrete date is currently unknown. Overall, the Excel capability is quite similar to ChatGPT's memory features, which allow you to permanently store items in the AI model's context window.
    • Imagine you still haven't discovered Total Commander that is doing all those things for three decades already...
    • This sounds like underneath the nice marketing spin, either someone at Adobe got tired of their lazy devs and asked Microsoft to help them sort at least some of Adobe's ancestral spaghetti code to make it go faster, or Microsoft wanted Adobe's crap to run better on Windows to make it look better when compared to Apple, so they offered to intervene. Either way, GOOD.
