Fans hoping that John Noble would finally get that Emmy nomination he deserves are going to be disappointed, because FOX has decided not to promote Fringe's fifth and final season for Emmy consideration.

According to FOX's PR site, Fringe is not being provided for Emmy voters' consideration. Precious little of the network's drama fare is, though: only The Following and Bones are being pushed by the network as contenders. The Following us undoubtedly trying to get nominations for leads Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, but Bones, really? Its actors are good at what they do, but they're not the best on television by a long shot.

Fringe fans are certain to be disappointed. The sci-fi series, which ended its five-year run in January, was fantastic for many reasons, not the least of which was absolutely fantastic performances by its three leads -- particularly John Noble, who played mad scientist in search of redemption Walter Bishop, and Anna Torv, who played the superpowered but still incredibly vulnerable FBI agent Olivia Dunham. Both received critical acclaim for their work on the series, but the Emmys never reciprocated with nominations for either (despite the continued disappointment of fans and critics alike).

Now, it looks like an Emmy nomination is simply not to be for the series or anyone involved. It's a shame, but it was to be expected, really. Fringe has ended; the network has no reason for it to win any awards. The Emmys, if you don't know by now, aren't really about fanservice.

The show for me died once the whole parallel crap started.

So you watched the first season? Shame, you missed out on some great stuff.
