Sony To "Never Ever Ever" Give Up Spider-Man Film Rights

Recommended Posts

Earlier today it was reported that Sony was interested in selling some of their movie franchises. The Register claimed that "Sony has said that it will consider a proposal from activist investor Daniel Loeb that the group should sell off parts of its music and movies business, which includes popular franchises Spider-Man and Resident Evil and the weepy ballads of Brit crooner Adele."

However from the folks over at AintItCoolNews, have done some investigating on their own and we now have a statement from Amy Pascal at Sony, she's the co-chair of the whole Sony Pictures Entertainment, and she had this to say. She said that she would "Never ever ever" let go of the Spider-Man franchise. AintItCoolNews also mentioned that "she feels the property is directly tied to her legacy and time at SONY. Not just that, she is really thrilled by the work on the new film."

Indeed. I'm really not crazy about what Sony is doing presently... At some point though I'm sure Disney will be able to get it back.
