I want to know how people are going to call the different Xboxs in conversation and writing....

Just to be clear, the official names are (and year released/announcements)

Xbox (2001)

Xbox 360 (2005)

Xbox One (2013)

1. Original Xbox or Xbox original

2. Xbox 360 or just 360

3. Xbox one or new Xbox or just Xbox.

I don't think that's so hard. People are just trying to make a mountain out of a mold hill.

If you really want a nickname then I'd say X1 is probably what it'll end up being.

Xbox

360

The New Xbox (ok, iPad pun will wear off quickly. Or rather - it already has/was never funny in the first place)

Agreed, X1 will probably take the spot.

Oh boy, they've made up rules for that, too. What next - they?e going to ban people from Live for using the wrong nomenclature? :D

Original Xbox

360

Xbox One.

That's how I refer to them.

This is clearly a brand guide. Every company has one and it's an important thing to have. We have one at Hailo. It's the difference between your company and partners making you look professional or not.

Xbox (the original), XB360, and now XB ONE (the space in the last to discourage waggasauri).

Was thinking about this myself, or rather, how the majority will end up abbreviating Xbox One, because people love to shorten stuff, especially with things like text messages, twitter, etc.

X.O

X.BO

X.B.O

Xbox.O

X.B.One

X.One

X.1

Dots are just to show pronunciation, so...

XO

XBO

XboxO

XBOne

XOne

X1

I'm thinking XBO

All branding comes with guidelines, it's not a MS exclusive.

Personally for me it'll be...

Original Xbox = i wont bother talking about, nothing left to say.

Xbox 360 = 360

Xbox One = Xbox (and then answer the inevitable questions of 'which one?' etc etc)

The truth is it'll take a while before it settles down in to having a user driven nickname.

  1. The console that wasted millions
  2. The console that broke in millions
  3. The console that millions already love to hate*

(* because the PS4 is going to be soooo much different! not.)
