The Bridge is a present-day crime thriller exploring the tensions on the US-Mexico border. When an American judge known for her anti-immigration views is found dead on the bridge connecting El Paso and Juarez, Sonya Cross (Diane Kruger) from El Paso PD must work with her Mexican counterpart from Chihuahua State Police, Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir), to catch a serial killer operating on both sides of the border.

Marco understands the slippery politics of Mexican law enforcement, and while his police force slowly succumbs to the pressures and demands of the cartel, he?s one of the last good men in the department. He?s charming, but also cunning as he will do whatever it takes to get what he needs. This does not sit well with Sonya, who has Asperger?s and strictly follows rules as well as protocol. Her candid and off-putting personality fuels an unforgiving drive for truth.

The case quickly pulls them into a string of murders on the border, a scene already consumed by illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution.

what a weird show

Agreed. I really don't get Sonya at all. I'm finding it difficult to connect with her character because of her issues. She doesn't make for a very believable detective.

Oh I agree. She's got a lot of room for character development. There's clearly a lot of backstory too that we need. We know something's happened to her sister, and the next episode should provide a lot of light on that.

She clearly doesn't function as a normal human though. She's a Dexter without actually the need to kill   She even alluded to the fact she has no empathy during her conversation with the Judge's husband. Did that happen before or after her sister died?

She's supposed to have Asperger's syndrome. I thought the first episode was kind of slow and boring until they introduced the explosive part near the end, which then made the show very interesting. I will keep watching it, cause I think it's going to get good. Only 12 more episodes, too.

High production values, good acting. But the female character is waaay too far out there for me. It's just one episode, maybe the writer will reel her character back a little. Definitely has potential.

Is it as good as the original? Also, isn't the BBC working on a British/French version of this as well? It's going to be the most copied show in TV history before long

Ah I see. Seems strange when they could just buy this (if they need an English language version).

Yeah suppose they want something with France/England on the Channel Tunnel...weird though! The original is awesome!
