V-Tech Posted May 25, 2013 Share Posted May 25, 2013 n a bit of a surprising move, the CBC has landed the rights to air a French-German co-production called Crossing Lines. What makes the move surprising is that the CBC is struggling financially and it did not seem the network would go after the program. Crossing Lines is developed by Ed Bernero (Criminal Minds showrunner)'s production company, the Munich-based Tandem Communications. It stars Donald Sutherland and has also been acquired by NBC for airing in the United States. The series looks at a a special unit of crime investigators that partner with the International Criminal Court in The Hague to go after global criminals throughout all of Europe. This team goes across lines to get their perpetrators (hence the show's title). Other cast members include William Fichtner, Gabriella Pession, Richard Flood and Marc Lavoine. As Canada has cut back on funds sent to the public broadcaster, the CBC has had to turn to European programming and returning Canadian programming in the quest for prime time ratings. An example of this is last year when it added Titanic: Blood & Steel to its Fall 2012 broadcast calendar.
