Every time you block popups, popunders and those innocent, gigantic, loud and screen-filling sometimes-inappropriate video ads you make webmasters cry!

Sorry, but I pay my internet fees for content I want to see, not what YOU want me to see. :p

And I can't say i've seen a hosts file (small or large) slow down a browser at all. Unless you have a really slow (Reads: Pentium 3) computer...

Internet Explorer really needs some sort of 'native' addon system, alike Firefox/Chrome/Opera. Most IE extensions require installing them as a normal application and even then they're not well integrated into the browser. There needs to be a 'one-click' and you're done type system.

They do. But they haven't considered it the past 12 years after IE6. It seems they'd rather improve the user-experience.

Wouldn't mind seeing an IE version, still prefer Firefox overall but this is something IE's sorely lacking.. I'd give IE a much closer look if it's a good port of ABP. TPL's just don't cut it if you want any sort of flexibility or fine tuning beyond the default list.

Too bad Chrome is where the cool is at B)

It would be cool if it wouldn't be such a ridiculous resource hog and allow addons a bit more control. Only reason I keep it around for testing is just because ABP kinda sorta works with it, in a very limited way.

Only use Internet explorer since IE 4, I don't like adding in a 3rd party browser when one is already included and functions fine....Will be nice once IE gets Adblock Plus Intergrated into the browser hopefully.

While waiting for ABP for IE (it will be a long time still), you can try ABIE. It's basically the same as ABP for Firefox. You can do everything in ABIE that ABP can do. The only draw back is that presubscribed to Easylist+EasyPrivacy lists. There's a user custom list, so you're covered if you want to add your own rules.

Sadly it's a paid solution. There's 30 days trial. Hopefully ABP will come out before my trial ends :p

Ad Muncher ftw! :)

Ad Muncher filter rules are way too limited. Ad Fender is much better. They just released v1.75 with element hide now possible through css injection. Very similar to what Ad Muncher does, but it support ABP filer rule styles! and Easylist are always maintained so you don't have to. Although I still prefer in-browser solution because it also works on HTTPS.

But I'm surprise just now much ABP memory draining is on Firefox. I notice Firefox work much much better memory-wise without ABP.

I disagree.

No problems on my end... it could be your messed-up computer... and it works with https on with ABP... you must be sniffing the glue. I visit facebook via https. no problems.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just noticed that they are talking about making it compatible with Internet Explorer 6.

That is the most backward insane thing you can do ever.

What's backwards about that?  I still use Internet Explorer 6...

    • Why say “Retarded” then? Lol
    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
