RTM or GA? Or won't this have RTM? It will make sense if they release it earlier as it's not a major release. The 8.1 Preview looks almost like a finished product.

Unfortunately it seems like they won't change the desktop icons and/or improve desktop apps.

These win8RTM build 9200 dates might give an idea:

WRP: June 1(actually it was May31)

win8RTM build 9200 sign-off: July 25

released to OEM : Aug. 1

GA: Oct. 26

btw, I made a translation error in this post:

The correct saying should be : The partners installed a "special update" from MS. So it seems MS is preparing to test the Store upgrade channel. :)

So, does anyone know, is the taskbar still oddly transparent in Windows 8.1?

It's still there in 9418, and no hinting of removal ATM. :)

95xx build numbers? No way? How did we jump so high from 94xx to almost 9600????

It's a list of available win8.1 pre-release build numbers, so it's obvious win8.1RTM is targeted at build 9600 - interesting thing is why these updates should pop-up.

wait -- what? you just called it January 8th right? You didnt call it 8th January did you?

When writing january and not by numbers you can go either way, but in numbers, it should be day month year. certainly not month day year, that makes no sense. for data sorting year, month day is of course best.

Interesting screenshot.  Obviously not the official preview build since the official won't say Microsoft Confidential all over it.

 

I'm gonna guess they will jump to build 9450 for the official Milestone Preview build.

What I heard is build 9440. :)

Don't think there are any other changes coming that we don't know about already.   BUILD is very close now so if there was anything else we haven't seen yet due to a leak of some sort then I believe what we see now is what we're going to get.  Not that I'm complaining really, so far 8.1 seems to be a very solid update overall.  I'd like to see some sort of visual top corner "charms button" as a option though.  I think having a button option will help, specially those who are running on multiple monitor setups that still have problems with the charms bar.  Having a visible thing to click on solves that issue for them and it will help those new to the UI to also get used to it that way first.

I have posted some extracts from win8.1 preview Q & A; but since it consists of (presently) MS confi stuffs, I don't know if it violates Neowin regulations. :)

      Had one user who switched to new Outlook, could not send an email he sends weekly due to file size to large error, works fine in classic Outlook. Issue just today, user received a meeting invite, when she went to add the meeting to the calendar it opened up New Outlook (she has classic open) and we could not add the invite to her calendar, We had her switch to New Outlook, it crashed when we tried to add the invite. Still hot garbage.
