Xbox One beating PS4 in Amazon pre-orders ahead of E3

Recommended Posts

Have you read the article? The numbers are from Amazon UK.

And yes, you can pre-order PS4 from Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.../dp/B00BE4HOIM/

No, I did not click on the article, and I only skimmed through the quote. However I did go by the thread title, and that says Amazon, not Amazon UK.

Consoles have had DRM for the last 15 years,

I'm not talking about region locking or "copies don't work" drm. I'm talking Steam-style locked to an account and "I'm sorry, Dave. I can't let you do that." DRM. I have always been able to freely trade, lend, buy and sell games for consoles. My point still stands.

don't worry, its going to be funny when the DRM news on ps4 finally hits them. its a unified experience on xbox one, where Microsoft made a system to sync licenses once a day, whereas on the ps4,its going to be one huge cluster**** free for all, with publishers having you register and managing all your games and licenses yourself with each of them. fun times ahead.

How will that be funny? Yes yes, let's all laugh as the consumer gets screwed over. That's totally fun.

What a joke.

Am I seeing this right... the games seem to be $99 each.

Likely an error because if that's true, I won't be buying any gaming console. :ermm:

Wait and see when the Wii U beats the PS4 and the Xbox One in sales. As much as that seems funny, weird things do happen. :p

what will be funny is not the actual DRM, but seeing the reaction of delusional sony fans who think there will only be game DRM on xbox and everything on ps4 will be sunshine and roses, with game developers begging them to play their games with no restrictions, and sony pricing their console so low and losing a ton of money, just to put smiles on peoples faces............... barf

Xbox One games are ?49.99 for all games on Zavvi except fifa (which is ?54.99). Amazon is charging ?54.99 for ALL games. I would save ?50 is a decent price for launch games BUT you probably can't sell them without travelling to a game retailer and can only get a price that they or microsoft decide which will be really low.

When you sell a ?40 game currently to retailers they may give you ?20 and then sell it for ?35, but if you sell your game on ebay you may get ?32. We games are going to lose out on a lot of money as a result of Microsoft doing this. Lets hope sony is keeping the traditional model.

perhaps Amazon is waiting for Sony to give a firm price?

You mean Amazon US, right?

Yeah, i think they are taking the responsible approach. Right on the Amazon UK page it says...

Important Information:

Please note that Sony has yet to announce cost prices for PlayStation 4 products. The price stated above is therefore liable to change prior to the release date. With our Pre-order Price Guarantee, you can order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price. So I think the people who run the US site are either waiting for the official announcement or waiting to know they will have stock.

And people are not preordering an item that does not have an official release date or an official price yet. Big shocker. And the article states that the XBox One is being preordered by 2.6% more.

It is a sensationalist article title making something out of nothing trying to get traffic to their website and supplying fanboys fuel for their fire to fight again.

Apparently it has worked.

Nevermind the fact I was curious how one could find this information out, so I started looking at the product pages for each item that the Amazon website itself tells a COMPLETELY different story.

So yeah, the Amazon website itself tells a very different story than this article does it not???

in fact, the PS4 is currently in 8th place and the 360 in 14th.

5 minutes of investigative journalism proved this story wrong I think no? Link for above screenshot.

Considering you currently can't preorder the PS4 from Amazon, yeah... The numbers will be higher. :s

OMG, it's been stated multiple times already that isn't Amazon UK, where you have been able to pre-order both consoles.

No, but maybe they should read the OP or the article in it before they reply ?

btw, this is he first line of the quote in the OP

The fanboy rivalry is still strong with the new generation of console gaming, as Amazon UK reports almost neck-and-neck pre-orders for the Xbox One and PS4.

investigative journalism? the best seller list doesn't tell you total sales. its the work of some algorithms that do take total sales into account but that isn't all. and by the way, these are not updated in real time anyways. my advice? journalism isn't for you

Oh really? What other numbers does it take into account?

And it still shows the PS4 ahead. Does it not??

And their site CLEARLY states sales.

Amazon Best Sellers

Our most popular products based on sales. Updated hourly.

And maybe not real time. But once an hour.

Nevermind the fact I put I did 5 minutes of investigative journalism to in fact point out yes, I barely spent any time at all. It was said lightly, hence the 5 minutes.

My advice to you. Stop being a butthurt fanboy.

EDIT - Also, look at that. The XBox One is now in spot #11. But oh yeah, it does not update in "real time," only once an hour.

Seriously, grow up.

I believe that list is based on recent sales not total sales though. When they release official numbers like this, those are the correct ones more so than the auto generated ones.

Really? They seem to track the Last 100 Days????

And who exactly released official numbers? I see them nowhere in the source article???

And I just showed, the One jumped 3 spots since I posted. How much more accurate do you guys need???

AGAIN, this is exactly what I said in the other thread. You guys just straight out deny the facts and make up excuses. Who even cares which one is selling more???

For me it is the premise that people stand behind fictitious numbers. Numbers Amazon themselves seem to contradict.

Why would they even bother changing the numbers and listing last 100 days if they are not accurate???

All the article says as far as a source is...

as Amazon UK reports almost neck-and-neck pre-orders for the Xbox One and PS4.

Things continue to get interesting though: Amazon says pre-orders for the Xbox One are already 20 per cent higher than they were before the launch of the Xbox 360 in 2005.

So I am the wrong and crazy one for taking the numbers Amazon displays, the ones that have actually changed since this article started, over an article that just says "Amazon says?"

As I understood it the pre-order difference was released directly from Amazon UK

    • Sorry I mean your back rest on your Herman, can you move the back say 2cm then lock it? Then realise 2cm isn’t enough and you want an extra 1cm then lock it into that position? Basically like in an older car seat, you turn the knob round until you get the back recline precisely where you want it, this is what I found the Herman wouldn’t do
    • WTF? I am not taking a video of myself to access a site or to create an account. What are they thinking? I don’t even have a webcam on my main desktop PC. The powers to be are really looking to normalize the taking of pics or submitting ID for everything. I afraid most people will end up just going along with it.
