I really like it, It's going to replace bf and cod as my go to game to kill a few people

im addicted to cod ghosts like its crack, but I think both games are very different. titanfall is amazing so far in the beta, but I don't think it will replace cod for me outright, more like a 50/50 split.

I played some today, and I have to say the game isn't really for me. It's TOO chaotic. It's impossible to tell what's going on, you get shot from all directions, and the art style is so bland and monotone that everything blends into a grey/brown blur.

It basically epitomizes everything I hate about the current state of CoD multiplayer.

The parts that are "glowing" are weak spots.  Unlike your personal-defense weapons (which autohome on weak points) the weapons on a Titan don't - which means that you're going to need SOME form of targeting system to point out the weak spots.  Further, there's only a single manufacturer of Titans (Hammond) - of COURSE they know the weak spots of their own designs.

Of COURSE you are supposed to kill the grunts - anyone on the opposing team is a TARGET and is supposed to be shredded ASAP - did you NOT go through ALL the combat scenarios in training?

I did but nowhere did they explain the game modes or that grunts add to your own score or your teams score. The problem is grunts can largely be ignored as a threat so it's not obvious at first that they matter in the long run.

Got a beta key and here are my thoughts:

1. It's a your typical run and gun fps mp, but with mechs and wall running. So it's pretty average

2. textures are bad, low res and out of this world not any standard compliant of 2014

3. So many bugs for such a mature backend and source engine. Very unoptimised. Mini stuttering and lag bound.

4. I can't see this game doing well unless you are: a. an COD gamer by nature and b. really misinformed/low standards

5. Not even remotely worth the money.

It's clear this game is being rushed, things are sloppy and has that COD esque feel to it, which makes me mad. Watch out with you're wallet, this is another sneaky/PR marketing hype catch. The novelty wears off quickly.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the beta demo thing didn't ship with the final high res textures. Other games in the past have done this (specifically battlefield games, also by EA games) to save on download size for their betas.  I hope...because the close up textures on titans is atrocious.

I think the game may just not be for you then. I feel the game devs were looking to create something fast and tight akin to CoD, without being CoD. They've quite succeeded from all the gameplay I've watched. It does interest me, but the chaos as you mentioned, I don't think I could play it in the longterm. I feel like I'd get bored, as it looks a bit shallow in comparison to a game where your more emotionally invested into not dying beyond K:D ratio.

Different strokes though I suppose.

I'm not sure where people are seeing chaos in this game. I am pretty much at home when it comes to twitch shooters but I never felt like it was there with Titanfall. There were times when I was playing where a good 10 seconds had passed and I didn't see anyone to engage. The map 'Fracture' felt especially empty IMO. Huge areas to cover and a lot of them go unused. The gameplay centred around the hill and collection of buildings near the middle of the map :/

I think its just a reflection of your personal experiences in these types of gmaes. Maybe some people are not as experienced in such games as you are, or their playstyle result in a different view of the game than yours.

Some people will like it, some wont.

We need a poll on this to see what people think of it so far. :)

Indeed, seeing those settings was nice. I am enjoying it, but I just don't play MP games for very long, if at all. I will keep playing until the Beta is done, then I don't know.

Also no one has said this but the game does have all the proper graphic options that make it a proper pc port. It's nice to see a fov option in a modern fps game.

Well I'm not talking about liking it or not, just that I'm struggling to see what others find so chaotic about it. I'd say BF4 large conquest has way more going on at any time compared to Titanfall. Sometimes too much when you factor in the screen shake and deliberate aim impairment that BF has. In comparison the guns in Titanfall don't even have recoil.

I know I'll be one of the few that have this opinion. Like I say, I am at home when it comes to twitch shooters and as I posted yesterday, I found Titanfall way too easy. I think once more people sit down to play it for longer they'll realise it's actually quite a simple game and experience.

Sure, the same way everyone has stopped playing COD since it is not as popular among many around the net who would claim its a poor game. The thing is, that has not happened and people do still play COD. The question is, do gamers like simple? I would say yeah, many do.

I get your point about it being chaotic or not though. People take these games seriously to varying degrees so there will be different level of tolernace for how a game plays.

I kept switching between game modes, which I usually don't do, just to mix up the gameplay in this. So I'm definitely hoping for some more game modes in the full release or even in the post release DLC.

They said on their twitter that there will be more game modes, and that the beta is only a small piece of the final game.

Yeah, I agree with this. Maybe it was the hype but I was expecting something more chaotic than what I experienced. If you look past the minions that are completely harmless most of the time there really isn't much going on. That is unless there are a couple titans after you.

Excellent, I assumed it'd be more than three modes, but it's good to know for sure. Thanks!

Have they said anywhere how many guns will be in the game? How many different titans? I hope more than just the 3.

Well considering the beta only had 21 weapons that are all unlocked by level 8, I can only assume they'll add many more into the final mix  to keep the incentive to level up.

seems pretty chaotic to me!

Somewhat unrelated to the beta itself, but I really hope they make a campaign for the inevitable sequel. It really feels like something that could be fleshed out and would work well. Plus it'd help get rid of that horribly long tutorial :p

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.

    • This is of course "clickbait" WTF? It is literally your example but tech based. A "clickbait" title is a sensationalized headline designed to manipulate readers into clicking a link using things like "fear" rather than delivering objective facts. A "clickbait" headline also usually provides little value compared to the hype generated. How does this headline not qualify? It's a generic often reused headline that is overly sensationalized. Oh no! "millions" can't use this app anymore. It has no basic facts like what f*cking app. You read the article and it's the Samsung VPN which no one cares about and there is a million free VPNs. How are you defending this ######? Headlines like this (and among other things) make me read Neowin much less than I used to in the past. It's trash...
