I am one of the people that also said it felt to chaotic to me, and this is from someone who feels right at home in a Battlefield Conquest game, so I can elaborate...

It is not necessarily the gameplay itself that feels chaotic, but all the "bells and whistles" while playing the game. I also felt the same about COD which is why I stopped playing it. Text flying in the center when you get a kill. ###### popping up in the corners. Text popping up in the bottom of the HUD. Speaking of the HUD, very loud and a bit too oppressive for my liking. While all those things happen in other FPS's, such as Battlefield since that can also be described as chaotic, they are presented in a much more minimal way.

To be fair, COD is very much presented in the same way, and that is the same reason why you can check my history on either Live or PSN and see I have not played a MP match of COD other than very random ones for almost 2 years now, if not longer. I just felt it was too chaotic for the same reasons. Busy as all hell.

So it is not the gameplay as much as it is the overall presentation and pacing of the presentation. It is like the difference of if you watched CNN 10 years ago compared to today. Just information overload. Now plenty of people have gotten used to this style and presentation, and even prefer it, some of us have not. I am one of those people. I prefer to keep things simplistic.

The game feels slick so the only thing that bothers me right now are the poor visuals. The art style is great but things like textures and lighting are poor. It's hard to not notice it after playing Battlefield 4 on ultra settings.

Yeah, coming from the pc is tougher. I guess this is a result of using the source engine and possibly the rumors that this was originally going to target last gen consoles. I dotn know how easy this is for the developers , but maybe a texture pack could be released later if the final visuals are as we see them now.

I dont think the visuals ruin the game for everyone, but I think everyone would appreciate better visuals.

After reading through the last few pages opinions seems to be a little mixed.

I haven't had the chance to try it out this weekend but set the download off this morning so should be able to get a few days of play in before the beta closes.

I have it on pre-order so the next few days will help me determine whether to cancel or not. :P

Titanfall PC beta now open. My 12GB download has started. Automatically got a tile to show up in my Origin client. Although I applied for beta via link and email. Maybe open to all now...

It is indeed Open to All, per a post on the main Titanfall page (duplicated on the Origin client).  If you have Origin (except on OS X) desist thy stalling.

Expectations are why the reviews are mixed.  It's not BF or CoD - however, it's not a typical "mech" game, either.

Titanfall is practically its own category - how the heck do you compare a game that is unique to anything?

I tried comparing it to Hawken, Blacklight: Retribution, and other "mech" games - present, past, and even ones scheduled for later this year and next - so far, nothing is where Titanfall is.

So much for pigeonholing.

Totally makes sense. I used to feel the same about CoD too, particularly after MW came out and they went nuts with the air strike kill streaks. All the audio queues and flashing text was just unnecessary so I can completely see what you mean from that side of things.

I will say some things in Titanfall could actually be made more clear to the player though. The kill info is pretty small and it's not easily discernable when you kill a real player or a bot IMO.

I agree its a litle small, but at least you can identify grunts via their name either when running around or after you killed them. If they could tweek that a bit it would be better.

This game is amazing. Been playing the BETA since Friday and can't get enough of it.

Respawn have taken the best bits from Halo, Bioshock, Lost Planet, CoD and Battlefield and added a sprinkle of awesomeness for good measure.

Most enjoyable FPS experience I have ever had to be honest.

Exactly.. this game is so much fun and is such a unique experience that it's not really comparable to anything else.

The features like burn cards and wall traversing and jumping and AI mixed in with the multiplayer makes it a very unique game. One moment you are mowing down everything that walks and then you are next second in your mech rampaging other titans, then you jump out, climb on the enemy titan, shoot through his electronics, their pilot jumps out to take you down and you propel yourself from the titan landing right behind the pilot that was trying to take you down and you break their neck.

WOW.. these are the moments I experience in this game.

I have tried both PC and Xbox One version and I have to say that the game flows and controls MUCH better with a controller on Xbox One..

Respawn took the absolute BEST from Crysis, Halo, Call of Duty, Mirror's Edge and Mech Warrior and put it  all in one game and have done in such an amazingly balanced way that game never feels frustrating, even when you lose.

I can't wait for March 11th.

That's exactly how I felt after having played the game for roughly an hour and losing most of the time. That's a huge plus to me.

They've been stress testing since it went open, that was the whole point.

Respawn tweeted earlier that they have started redirecting EU gamers to US servers to cut wait times.

They are just trying to get people to sign on at a certain time, create as much load as possible.

What you mean by small?

If you mean small gameplay?

Nothing to do with maps/guns. I was talking about kill info, i.e the text on screen.

No, not the gameplay, the actual text that that use, the font size. It is a little hard to read to kill list on my TV. Also, the font size of the names that float over the characters as you see them is a tad small for me.

The actual game content is shaping up to be a nice amount based on that leak.

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
