You think that is rediculous?  That's not even the highest numbers

I really dont get why next gen console games are so freaking huge compared to pc games.  Is there a legitament reason?

Those were PC numbers. I thought it was 20 GB on X1? How many discs is it on 360 now I think about it? And isn't Ghosts the largest install so far from the "next gen" games at 40 GB?

48 GB for a MP only game is a joke though, especially all things considered. It probably dashes any hopes of 1080 on X1 if the game is more than twice the size on PC with high res textures. And if they do intend to patch it, is the patch really going to double the size or more? Jeez louise (N) Lots of ifs and buts so we'll need to wait and see :P

Oh your right, I didnt realize that was the pc figure.

But there are ps4/xb1 games that hit 40+GB in size. NBA2K14 is one of the largest games so far at 44GB. So Titanfall at 48GB would certainly be possible on the X1 space wise.

So why are these games so large? Then referring to Titanfall, why is it 48GB on pc? PC games have not been this big until very recently, basiclaly when the new consoles came out. What's the deal.

Max Payne 3 was 30, RAGE was 25 before that and then of course Ghosts the most recent at 40 GB. Titanfall on PC is 48 GB apparently due to the texture size. And sure X1 and PS4 can accommodate these game install sizes, but it's not ideal considering the paltry HDDs in them.

I would say various different sizes of textures would play a big role in the increased PC size, XONE 720 and 1080 only now? PC gamers can play on way higher settings than that so lots of pre sized textures for low/med/high/ultra users :p

If it really is just due to texture packs, then those must be some pretty darn good textures.

But to be honest i don't understand all the fuss around this game. Looks like a standard shooter with a mech twist to me. Nothing bad about this though.

I'm going to agree it does look like a fun game though, fast paced action.

But I think the excitement over it is mainly due to Xbox being dependent on recycling their old franchises of Forza, Fable, Gears and Halo.. This is something new that actually looks pretty good, so it seems people are overly excited about it. I'll personally probably get it for PC cause I don't like playing FPS on controllers, but its not a title I want right now.. Maybe a few weeks after it released if people still think its a good game and is something that has replay-ability.

Oh don't get me wrong i played the beta and it is a fun multiplayer shooter. I'll definately grab it on pc next fall if people are still playing it (backlog is too big right now). I just think some people see it bigger than it really is. I don't think it is the next Halo 2.

If people played the beta and think its a good game or a big deal, then what is there to argue with?

You may not find it very interesting, but its very clear that some are really excited after playing the beta.

I think this is just another example of different gaming tastes showing up. Some people can't stand COD, while some can't get enough of it. Titanfall has some of the same 'feel' of the earlier COD games and that is really resonating with many gamers.

People are excited about it after playing the beta, so its more about personal preference I think.

I do however agree that gamers are hungry for new IP and more content on the next gen systems since both have been lacking so far.

I am seeing a pattern where it seems gamers that have not been a fan of COD are more likely to say that the game is not a big deal and if they have enjoyed COD in the past, they are more excited for his game. I have no idea where you fall in that, but there seems to be a lot of people that fall to one side or another.

The reason why I got really excited after the Beta is because the game is just fun to play. In COD, if you are not good, you'll get killed a lot by campers on the window, campers on the roof, or those who just can shoot better

Same with Battlefield.. game isn't fun when the team aren't working together

With Titanfall, it's just.. fun. Maybe a mixture of bots + online players help. And being in the Titan killing players, etc. It's a perception of you are achieving something, you are killing someone, being a badazz. Rather than a few rounds of dying, and dying (yeah I suck)

And these are the quarter-res textures right?  :D

Battlefield 4 for PC isn't even that large:

While we keep getting games like Forza, Fable, Gear, Halo, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Killzone and Infamous recycled, that happens because the gamers are buying it and asking for it. But at the same time, we also keep getting new IP's.

Titanfall isn't popular just because it's not Halo. It's popular because it goes back to what good gaming has always been about. No frills....head over heals non stop action and fun.

Titanfall is just as popular on the PC - which is NOT usually the case with multiplatform games, and especially shooters.

Titanfall is popular on the PC because of what it isn't - not only is it NOT BF4 or CoD, it's not a typical "mech" game (such as Hawken); it's also not World of Tanks.

I said it during the beta, and I make the point again - Titanfall is unique in a way that a shooter (regardless of platform) hasn't been in years.

That it's multiplatform is icing.

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
