PS4 grabs 95% of Consumer Votes after Amazon shuts poll down early

There's a difference between being able to do something and do something.

If MS adds the family sharing etc. for digitally bought games(which I hope), they can easily get bad PR just like they did with DRM and that's probably why they removed it.

You need to remember that PEOPLE ARE STUPID. If some rules like family sharing were available, they would certainly focus on it in their advertising. No matter how many disclaimer lines etc. you have in an advertisement, Averge Joe would not read it and MS would get complaints and bad PR because people bought a physical game and it didn't work as they'd expected.

That's what happend with the drm and family sharing etc. People got confused by all the rules, so MS removed it to keep everything simple. By adding the family sharing etc. back for digital only, things would get complicated again...

People didn't get confused by the rules, they decided that the restrictions Microsoft wanted to push were not a fair trade and were not in the interests of the consumer.

Honestly now, you're manufacturing issues here. If advertising it is a potential problem, don't advertise it - simple.

In the long term, digital distribution doesn't need any assistance (providing it's not done badly) in replacing physical media. Offer Halo 5 for preload with a midnight unlock and bam, the exodus begins.

There's a BIG difference between people who comment in forums and non-techy people who doesn't comment or only read stuff on facebook etc.

Ex. my sister would probably not understand the difference, she would just hear about a great console with ex. a simple family sharing feature etc, and buy the console with some games in a retail store to keep it simple..

And if they included family sharing, which would be an exclusive feature, how could they NOT advertise about it? It would've been a big selling point.

Some people complained about DRM because they didn't think the benefits were good enough, while other non-techy people complained because all the news articles told them how bad it was (without focusing on the benefits it brought). Believe it or not, but the majority of game console users are actually those who doesn't know what DRM is, those who doesn't bother about check-ins (or don't understand it) etc.

Let the smart people lead the change to digital, the sheep can follow on later.

    • Apart from Early Hiccups on Windows 11 on first install on October 6th 2021 on my old Intel 10700 daily use Desktop PC at the time, used to have issue with Bluetooth suddenly no longer working and only fix back then was always another clean install--then would work for a while. Transition to 2024 when i decided to finally upgrade that system for better support for Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6 later on, opted for next daily use Gaming Desktop AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and Radeon 7800XT OC 16GB. No major problems at all with this desktop, OS was clean installed way back on 10/8/2025 not long after 25H2 released. Overall i've been happy with Windows 11 Pro from the start, even minor little quirks didn't sway me. Heck i even use Windows 8 and upgraded immediately upon release back then on my old HP P6-2133W Desktop, and while the specs of that machine didn't give me top notch performance--i still was able to do what i wanted to, without too many slowdowns. Windows ME i didn't use on any of my personal systems back in the day, kept those systems on 98SE til XP released, and grabbed that immediately on release date. Kept XP til Vista Released then upgraded immediately, kept Vista til Windows 7 released, then updated immediately again
    • Broadcom: dreadful company who is destroying VMware by pricing it out of the market.
    • To be fair, it wasn't going anywhere. Even when Windows Phone could run Android APKs, Google didn't want any of it so it'd never work and the same thing happened with Windows. It was never about the store or it's users, it was always the developers and who they aligned to.
    • Wake me up when this comes to PC. Until then... zzzzzzzz....
