I?ve learned that actor James Gandolfini died suddenly in Italy after a suspected heart attack. He was 51. Gandolfini will be forever known for his portrayal of mob boss Tony Soprano on the seminal HBO series The Sopranos, which won him three Emmy Awards.

HBO released this statement: ?We?re all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family. He was special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone no matter their title or position with equal respect. He touched so many of us over the years with his humor, his warmth and his humility. Our hearts go out to his wife and children during this terrible time. He will be deeply missed by all of us.?

Such a good actor, especially in this genre. RIP.

BTW: news said he died of sudden cardiac arrest, usually an electrical problem that can also kill kids, not a heart attack which involves blockages of a coronary artery. Autopsy today, so perhaps we'll get a more definitive answer later
