Unimatrix Xero
Hi all Over the last few weeks the battery life for my Nexus 4 has been crap, when the power gets down to around 40% the phone dies and then when i plug in the charger it shows that the battery is dead and its got 0% charge in it, when it goes back upto 100% i let it de-charge and the same happens again when it hits around 40%.... Im only gettin around 5-6hours out of the phone until it dies at the moment, i used to be able to get 10-11hrs without problems. any apps ive installed which i thought could be doing this ive got rid of... any ideas what could be causing this thanks Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1159956-battery-life-with-nexus-4/ Share on other sites
The Evil Overlord
To start with Allwight R-Kid to a fellow Wolvie (no not the footy club) First thing that came to mind was the battery might have had a few too many overcharges, there are plenty of users here that will say the memory effect doesn't apply to modern batteries, I'm not one of them. try fully discharging it, then after a day or 2 have passes, slow or trickle charge it from a usb port from your pc (if applicable) Doesn't matter if the pc's on or not, mine will charge all my usb devices regardless of whether the pc's on or not, and see how it goes Otherwise you might need to get the battery replaced if removable, if not, you might need to take it to a technician to do it for you if it's under warranty. (There are other methods but I'm sticking to the obvious and legal ones) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1159956-battery-life-with-nexus-4/#findComment-595770880 Share on other sites

Xahid
if your device is rooted, try Battery calibration (play store) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1159956-battery-life-with-nexus-4/#findComment-595770886 Share on other sites
HoochieMamma
Sounds like a damaged battery, if you can be bothered you can replace the battery without too much effort. Something along these lines http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-Original-LG-Nexus-4-replacement-battery-New-and-unused-/231000544054?pt=AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item35c8b49336 and instructions http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+Nexus+4+Battery/13039/1 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1159956-battery-life-with-nexus-4/#findComment-595770888 Share on other sites

Xahid
its not rooted you should still try, since it can work without root, & btw check your wifi/bluetooth/GPS & all other unnecessary servicess, are they set to always on ? Xahid
I'll give it a try. Bluetooth is never on WiFi is always on NFC is off GPS is on but these things have never caused problems in the past Well, now they might be causing problem, so you should also try to disable them (turn them off) and observe your battery life. The Evil Overlord
I feel a little silly now for not thinking to recommend what Xahid mentioned, more so because I have an S3 and have observed 4.5-5 days standby if I turn off exerything and just run it as a basic phone Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1159956-battery-life-with-nexus-4/#findComment-595770922 Share on other sites

+KibosJ Subscriber² Posted June 20, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted June 20, 2013 I've always ran with GPS and WiFi on and never had issues so why should it act up now.. It shouldn't. It sounds like you have a faulty battery, if it's still under warranty I'd take/send it back. If not, repair it yourself :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1159956-battery-life-with-nexus-4/#findComment-595771064 Share on other sites
