Jumping on 8.1 as soon as it's previewed. This is going on my laptop (only choice :p) so it better be decent otherwise i'm giving up! So far I haven't tried any of the leaks yet so this will be the first swipe at it.

Sticking with Windows 7 until StartIsBack and Bigmuscle's aero glass implementations work on 8.1 then I will give it a try, if I don't get a repeat of the problems I had with Windows 8 I will stick with 8.1

I'll wait for it to go final. I've never been keen on trying alpha/beta/dev/preview operating systems.

Have to admit I'm not that "hyped" for Windows 8.1, but I'll see what's new.

Same here. I do like to try new things but only when they are finished.  :)

I usually get betas and RCs of new Windows OS releases, but I'll skip it this time.  Windows 8 works fine for me as-is, and I can wait a couple more months for the new additions and changes, plus it'll save me an OS re-install (though I might do it anyways; we'll see).

I'll try it out on my desktop in vbox but I might install it on my Samsung ativ tablet since I don't have many apps installed on it so when the final comes I can reinstall the few I do without much issue.

i plan on upgrading when it is final release, after reading about having to reinstall my applications to go from the preview to the full version it was no longer worth it to me to try something that would inevitably be free to me anyway.

Probably going in a VM for a day or two and if no major issues will probably jump the gun knowing myself. Considering it's largely an update rather than a drastic new OS and a lot of the updates would be visual, I doubt they'll have that much stability issues.

I'll be installing the 8.1 Preview on my Samsung Series 7 slate (currently has 8 Pro) since I don't have many desktop apps installed on there (MAYBE 3?). I'll wait for the RTW version for my desktop Dell AIO which currently is running 8 Pro. I'd install the preview on both if I didn't have to reinstall all desktop apps, but one of my two PCs are better than none to preview with!

I look forward to the preview :)

    • Less powerful than a PS5 at twice the price! I wonder if they use that for marketing? Totally DoA.

    • How does it compare to the "SeeStar S30 Pro" and the "Vespera PRO 2"?
    • Indeed. And note that those units are MUCH cheaper than this new Steam Machine...ahem.
