Hi all

This might turn out to be a long post so bear with me

As some of you might have seen last week i did a post about crap battery life with my Nexus 4....well the crap continued with random shuttings down, loss of signal where its normally full 'H' and i even started to notice my screen was starting to come away from the sides, (i could fit a my nail inside the gap and I could also see what i call light leakage from the side when the screen was turned on.

So anyway... i contacted '3' and told them about the repair, they said from what i had told them it needed to be sent it, so i sent the phone in and 4 days later it came with with the same faults and i personally think it wasn't even looked at. When i rang up '3' they told me that it wasn't fixed as they classed the screen coming away as 'inconsiderate usage of the handset' and this wasn't covered by the warranty.

So the crap battery life carried on, only getting about 3-4 hours of charge from the phone and then it died... enough was enough, i got hold of a new battery and got an independent shop to inspect and fit the new battery.

On taking the back off the Nexus 4 the guy at the shop came out and showed me the problem, the battery was close to exploding and if it had then me or my daughter (who sometimes uses the phone) could have been seriously hurt.

To cut a long story short the new battery is in and currently charging for 8 hours.

Im hoping this will be considered for front page news as this is a serious problem which needs to be addressed!

I'm not a writer, but I would think that it would need to be a widespread issue in order to merit an article. As it is it just seems like a matter of a dud battery. It happens.

I'm happy to hear that you've found the issue though. Let's hope the replacement battery solves your problems. (Y)

If you google 'bulging battery' there are alot of other people with the same problem

Example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199259

same problem as me, but his battery 'pop' cracked the screen!!

*posted in a night way and not shouty* lol :P

Wow, that was a close one. I would send the pictures to LG & 3. A similar incident happened to a reddit user with his GS3.

Ive already been in contact with LG and ive told them if i dont get a phone call by 8PM (when their offices close) i'll be taking it further :)

Ah, I didn't check that. Oh dear, that's not good news for the Nexus 4...

What battery did you replace with? Does the new one fit as well as the original?

I got one off ebay which 'claims' to be a genuine battery, (im always skeptical)

it fits perfectly without problems and is working great so far

Battery temps are way down from what they used to be and im also running the battery down to 5% before i charge it now, as i used to charge it when it dropped below 20%
