New to video editing - advice and recommendations?

Hi all,

 

Never done any video editing before and I'm not sure where to start.

 

It's a simple edit I hope.

 

I have a video where the length and audio are fine, but I need to make the first x number of frame black and crop the video at the bottom.

 

Any clues where to start? I downloaded lightworks but confused! Looks like overkill?

I recommend Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. Because that's what I use.
