GotBored
Source: http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2001810/ps4_fans_disrupting_xbox_one_drm_petition.html Some Xbox One fans have caused a stir recently after setting up and signing a petition asking for the return of 'the Xbox One we were promised at E3'. The petition has come about due to the removal of Xbox One features such as Family Sharing, which were tied into controversial DRM policies. Some Xbox One fans want the features returned, hence the petition. Now PS4 fans are signing the petition as well and are mocking the petition itself. Petition: http://www.change.org/petitions/microsoft-give-us-back-the-xbox-one-we-were-promised-at-e3-2 Some of the most up-voted comments include: I love restrictions. I want always online DRM. I want the game rental business to become obsolete. I don't want to let my friends borrow games, because f**k them. All I care about is my god damn new age console that'll blow everything else out of the water! F**k the PS4 and f**k those Sony guys for catering to fans who care about their gaming experience. F**k PC, that **** is stupid too. Please sign this petition. Support retards! Microsoft, I'll never buy your consoles so I'll help your deluded fanbase so there will be less a chance to see your zombie-fanbase over on Sony's demographic. Please restrict 'me' and 'my' fellow Xbox players, we love bending over and taking it up the *** with DRM, an overpriced webcam that can spy on me and the ability to be shafted turns me on. This is why I want restrictions to come back because your visions of the future surely are what humanity strives to achieve WOOOO Shitbox ! bring the **** back! its important to me, that way all the retard will stay on xbox one, leaving ps4 with only pure games not noobs Source: http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2001810/ps4_fans_disrupting_xbox_one_drm_petition.htmlThis petition has received over 17,000 signatures.. So guess what happened? Microsoft see the petition and said they are glad that people were excited about the DRM and say one day we may bring it back. http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Microsoft-Responds-DRM-Petition-Glad-People-Excited-About-Xbox-One-Features-57467.html Did they look at the comments? TheLegendOfMart
So because they are anti-DRM, and anti-Microsoft Bull**** they are PS4 fans all of a sudden? Maybe they bought the original Xbox and the 360 and don't want this crap on Xbox One. MikeChipshop Member Posted July 15, 2013 Member Share Posted July 15, 2013 A few stated they were PS4 fans but the majority said they didn't like the DRM and that had nothing to do with the PS4 Did they look at the comments? Who knows. Actually the majority of comments are in support of DRM and the E3 style Xbox. So yes, they probably did.
Brian M. Veteran Posted July 15, 2013 Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2013 Personally - I've believed all along that the removal of DRM was only going to be temporary. Imagine how many man-hours Microsoft has spent developing the systems behind it - they aren't going to throw all of that away just because Sony "one-up'd" them at E3. Skiver Veteran Posted July 15, 2013 Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2013 Do people really think that by promoting something they don't think will do the industry well it will help in anyway? Do people not understand that having an all awesome console and all other competition dying is actually a bad thing? If there is a single console (PS4) then Sony have absolutely no need to push the boundaries and innovate, they will stagnate and do as little as possible because that way they make more money. I honestly think this is incredibly pathetic that there is a mix of people between fanboys and just anti-MS that they think this is worth doing. I personally signed this because I did feel the benefits outweighed the negatives on the "E3" features but the idiots signing this petition just take away any credibility from this petition and make it worthless. Stick to trolling forums and websites please and leave this stuff alone!

I honestly think this is incredibly pathetic that there is a mix of people between fanboys and just anti-MS that they think this is worth doing. Too true. It essentially turns into a monopoly where Sony could charge whatever they want and they'd have no motivation to innovate or be competitive. RE: the petition, there is no way MS is going to re-reverse its decision. They might drip-feed the features back in over time, in a different way, but it was embarrassing enough for them to ditch these "features" in the first place, re-reversing it would make them look woefully incompetent. As one last point: do online petitions ever do anything? About anything? I can't think of any that make any substantial difference to the real world. Salutary7
Whatever the case, Microsoft really cares about the bottom line. If the numbers show that DRM loses them business--or worse, bolsters Sony's business, there's no way they will reinstate it soon. I think the sad part is that consumers weren't given a choice. Some people like disc-based gaming, others enjoy what the cloud has to offer. You don't have to enact new types of restrictions to satisfy both groups. The PS4 so far is doing the better job of respecting those gamers. GotBored 1 Share
Showan
I see people always writing "choice" or "option".... Game consoles should not work like that... It will break the experience of what the XB1 does as a whole. That's why I'm happy they stood their ground with Kinect. Microsoft presented something different.. Something fresh... I hate the fact they took it away... But am happy they refuse to break the experience as a whole. Choice will be the reason the PS eye will be a dust collector... Choice or option should work like, PC or Mac, iOS or Android, or WP, Solid State vs Mechanical Drives. Only choice or options for consoles, should be the one you choose your experience on, rather its, Xbox, PS, Nintendo, or Ouya. Not and option to fragment the experience... That's why Sony should of bundled the Eye and a Vita into the PS4 and jacked up the price to $500... They would of really showed the true experience of Playstation... XB1, Kinect, smartglass.... A true experience that they refused to break up... I love that...

If you are making a multi-platform game, you would not be using it that much either since the PS4 does not have Kinect.

Studio384
The most amuzing thing about this is, that their votes are actualy working and Microsoft is considering bringing back some features that where removed together with the DRM restriction and many users liked. Now some of them will come back, except the DRM. :p

Look at my example of "total experience" and look at your example... Not even remotely the same thing... PS4, Vita, PS Eye... all bundled together = the true PS4/Vita experience... Mark Whitten & Aaron Greenberg both stated that Kinect is IMPORTANT to the XB1 experience... As well as Smartglass SIxx-Axis....smh.....

GotBored
Mark Whitten & Aaron Greenberg both stated that Kinect is IMPORTANT to the XB1 experience... As well as Smartglass The kinect actually cost more than the console itself to develop and manufacturing costs is almost the same as the console itself according to a confirmed XB One dev at reddit. http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/1i71s5/i_am_an_xbox_one_dev_ask_me_almost_anything/ I personally like the kinect and its features but it was quite an investment for Microsoft. It stands for Digital Rights Management, that could imply managing your rights more freely for greater access & more convenience. Who would of thought it? trooper11
Who knows. Ok first of all, the immaturity of the internet and a group within the gaming community is astonishing. Maybe its the fact that I have experienced so much of the 'internet' over the years, but this stuff is so below us. So a handful of people decide its funny to basically harass those that are simply signing an online petition to express their opinion. I don't care what the petition is about, how about those that have so much disrespect for others just keep it to themselves. I know this is 'lame' to say, but I don't care. It just seems like people are getting trashed way too much these days other things that don't warrant it. Secondly, I think you misrepresented MS' response. I'm not sure why you decided to summarize their response as being glad people were excited for drm. That is not it at all. What they really said was they were glad to see people were interested in features like the family sharing stuff, not drm. They then went on to rest what they had said before that they are working to bring back the features for content bought digitally, but they wouldn't be ready for launch. MS is not going to reverse its decision since they know the majority weren't happy with it. If what Mikefeffer posted was true than this whole petition is pointless because MS is just going to bring back the features anyway. Your right, it is, but I don't think it hurts for people to voice their opinion. It reminds MS that there are people that are looking for some feature. Besides, people did petitions to remove the drm stuff and that went well.
compl3x
'the Xbox One we were promised at E3' Promise is a bit of a ###### word to use. MS never promised anyone anything and are entirely within their rights as a company to change policy as they see fit. So, no, you weren't "promised" anything.
