It would have been nice, but we can upgrade the HDD at least :)

Of course it would be great to have the best of both world (upgradable + allow external) but between these 2, I prefer the former.

I'd prefer the internal initially, but I'd rather not open a console up to replace one if I run out of space! that's just...wack

You do not open up the console. Have you not seen how the PS3 hard drive is replaced?

Both options are good... But I am excited about external installs... If there is anything that happens to the hardware, I send in the Xbox One, not lose a bit of data (trying finding the motivation to grind again after hardware failure), get X1 back and it's like I never lost anything..

I'm not banking on hardware failure... But it's good to know that I don't have to start games over in case something does happen...

Which is why both companies currently provide cloud saves behind a paywall.

Will definately be on that for the 360/X1 at least.  I was ****ed when my old 360s HD died.

Indeed, it's feature that's almost a necessity for any games that can't be completed / progressed in a single evening session - for any console.

Umm no, I just got my first PS3 a few months ago. Should I have?

I was more wondering why you thought the console had to be opened. That would void the warranty sticker.

But XBONE supports game installs on external HDD. Why is the gaming media not blasting Sony over this?

Because Sony actually lets you REPLACE the internal hard drive with ease!

It was very easy to replace the hard drive on the 360 too, but you could use an external too.

External hard drives on 360 don't allow you to install games or save on them. 360 also didn't come standard with a HDD. That's why it was easy to replace. But you had to buy a Microsoft branded HDD inside a shell for 2-3 times the cost of the drive on Amazon or Newegg. You could use some third party tools to hack the drive to work in the 360 and some third party sellers did this and sold the drives for a small markup, but none of this is official.

XB1 is internal and not user-replaceable. At least not without voiding your warranty. How easy it is to do it anyways is yet to be seen.

PS3 and PS4 both have internal HDDs but are easily user accessible behind a flap.  PS3 and PS4 OS fully support the user throwing in any SATA 2.5" HDD and will format it and configure it for you.

    • I agree, especially if it is cloud sourced, like this one is.. but I wouldn't say no to a local AI assistant similar to the Zettlab one which would be really helpful with my large Photos library, but also to perform tasks like installing Docker apps rather than me having to do it via Docker Compose, but I don't think we're quite there yet. Synology Photos is somewhat AI, you can ask it to search for certain people (if you have tagged them and it will attempt to match similar photos to the person) and if you put a search term in for "cars" for example, it will show you all photos with a car.
    • I doubt that Google will keep the same price... it may go up from that list published.

    • So the card is targeted at headphone users - so the review should be from someone that uses this - maybe I can review a card next time.
