?Apple?s new operating system is making me nauseous and giving me a headache - just like when you try to read in the car,? says one user.

Others complain of ?vertigo? when apps ?zoom? in and out - and say that using iOS 7 devices has left them feeling ill for days.

Apple?s new iOS 7 operating system has been downloaded 200 million times - and some users are complaining that the animations make them seasick - or worse.

?Just had a long chat with Apple support,? one disgruntled user said on the Apple forums. ?Apparently there is no way to turn off animations.?

Once installed, it is extremely difficult to uninstall from iPads, iPhones and iPods - and iOS 7 comes pre-installed on all new iPhone 5C and 5S models.

Ironically, one of its main ?selling points? was its simplified look - the icons on the page are ?flatter? and simpler.

?True simplicity is derived from so much more than just the absence of clutter and ornamentation?it?s about bringing order to complexity,? said Apple?s ?design guru? Jonathan Ive, who worked with the team which created the software.

Apple does include an option to ?reduce motion?, but this applies mainly to the ?depth? effects on the main screens - not to the ?zoom? effects when users open and close apps.

?"I had severe vertigo the minute I started using my iPad with iOS 7," said one user, quoted by tech site The Verge. ?I thought I was going crazy today after I updated my phone and I noticed I was feeling queasy every time I used it. Now I see I am not alone! I just used my phone for about 20 minutes and now I feel like I'm going to vomit. There has to be a way to turn this off!"

Apple has not issued any official statement on the issue.

There is, the power button.

How about going to the Accessibility settings and use Reduce Motion..jeez.

Doesn't that just get rid of the parralax effect? It says it's mostly the zooming in and out effects thats getting to people.

Oh come on...

What utter toss!

This kind of thing is entirely possible, regarding the iOS7 animation.

I feel nauseated sometimes if I read something on my phone for a few minutes in a moving vehicle. Same thing for books or video games.

Otherwise it's fine if I'm not moving

Oh come on...

I'm not going to completely discount it, If I use my phone or tablet in a car I get major car sickness, within 20 minutes I have a migraine and I want to vomit. My friends are all fine and thought I was faking it until the time I actually threw up. So i'm not going discount their claims.

I'm not discounting it - I am discounting that it's as strong an issue as they are making out.

And yes, I can see it happening in a moving vehicle.  Same way as I used to get it from the STATIC PAGES of a book when in a car!

Have apps animated on and off the screen in a similar manner in iOS for years now? Or not?

The Zooming affect is stronger and everywhere in iOS 7. There is also the parralax effect, but you can turn that off.

Mabye the pastel color scheme does it. My Gnex has a nice theme and I got animations turned on and it doesn't make me sick.

Some people are more sensitive to motion sickness than others. My best friend can't play a game like Portal for more than 15 minutes without feeling sick.

I admittedly get motion sick when I read books but not looking at screens. Magazines are hit and miss depending on the fonts/colors used. Segoe UI and fonts like that are fine. Times and fonts like that I have a tougher time with while reading on the go. I think it's amount of strain and the fact that certain fonts and colors take more processing to get the content and this is prolly why MS chose Segoe based fonts is you process it quick and thus, less strain making you not get as sick.

    • I’m still using an Xbox One S, so time for an upgrade to play this but as much as I hate Sony, I think I’ll get the ps5 pro
    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.
