Box to accept several audio inputs to one common audio (7.1) output

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I want to buy a box where I can plugin various audio input sources and output them to my (7.1) speakers, switching between inputs with a button/switch.

The inputs will problably be between a PC and a Xbox 360.

Thank you

Do you have a budget in mind?  "true" 7.1 audio can only be carried over HDMI or analog (mostly found on high end gear).  A decent receiver ($350-$400) can usually handle 5 or 6 inputs (will also do video).  Otherwise you can prob find a cheap audio switch that can do optical and analog inputs

Yep, it's hard to recommend something without your budget. However, my trusted brand for receivers is Onkyo. The TX-NR616 is a nice little beginner 7.2 capable receiver. It can be had on Amazon for much less than the MSRP of $699, only $318 right now. http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-NR616-7-2-Channel-Certified-Receiver/dp/B0077V88W2/

Of course, I don't know what the retailers available to you offer.
