Pictures of men seen in and around the Portuguese town of Praia da Luz at the time of Madeleine McCann's disappearance are to be released by British detectives.

A number of e-fits are to be shown in tomorrow night's episode of BBC Crimewatch in a bid to identify the men and eliminate innocent sightings, Scotland Yard said.

A short clip has been released ahead of the broadcast showing a reconstructed scene of Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry playing tennis.

I think it is absolutely disgusting for photos of the men seen in the area to be released so long after the disappearance, as doing so serves only to cast aspersions and demonise those pictured. All the leads were followed up countless years ago and the case has received an obscene amount of international attention, all but precluding the notion that this is a sincere campaign for more information. No good can come from releasing these photos and doing so will certainly harm the interests of those pictured, especially when there is no evidence of any wrongdoing on their part.

Madeleine McCann went missing over six years ago because her parents neglected her and left her alone while on holiday. The parents are nothing more than publicity ######, manipulating the media and continuing this charade long beyond what is reasonable or decent. The tragic disappearance of this girl has been turned into a sick pantomime.

I am appalled at the UK media?in particular the gutter journalism of The Sun, The Daily Mail and The Mirror?for dedicating so much time to the disappearance of this one child in such a cynical and self-serving manner.

What is the purpose of the reconstructed scene. Well they reconstruct them going out for dinner and leaving their children alone so they can have a night out. Despicable people, that, if they were anything other than white middle class, would have had their other children taken off them and be charged with neglect.

This little girl is gone, it's a tragic thing, but they are at fault entirely and they should cease being made out to be victims

Why Men ? as if Women aren't also likely to have kidnapped her.

then again, I still find it ridiculous the parents are still pulling off this hoax so long after, they've already gotten away with it.

Not to sound harsh but its bin 6 years, whatever happened to her shes gone... if she was kidnapped shed look totally different to how she was and also probably young enough to "overwrite" her previous identity and give her a new name etc that she'll accept and act out as if it was her real name. If shed died by whatever means theyve hidden her body pretty well and will most likely never be found so may as well just let it go, digging up the past isnt good for anyone

I'm sick and tired of these McCanns.  They're nothing more than publicity seekers trying to profit from this situation and I'm amazed at the continued media attention they get considering that they're the ones who are responsible for the disappearance of their child.  It's illegal to leave a child under 14 unattended in the UK and they should be subject to that law despite the fact that they were abroad.

    • Microsoft kills AI-powered history search feature in Edge by Usama Jawad In June 2025, Microsoft began rolling out AI-powered history search functionality with Edge 138. The idea was simple: allow customers to use natural language phrases and synonyms to find their desired history items rather than matching keywords exactly. Although the company had already rolled out this capability in a phased manner, it has now decided to cancel it. In an update on its Microsoft 365 Roadmap, Microsoft has announced that it has decided not to move forward with AI-powered history search. The company has not detailed the exact reasoning behind this move, but it has apologized to customers for the inconvenience. The move is rather interesting as it seemingly could have improved user productivity. Edge users wouldn't have to worry about typos or exact keywords, and just focus on what they were trying to locate in their browser history. Microsoft had also assured users that an on-device AI model would be leveraged for this functionality, and no data would be sent to the cloud. IT admins also had the ability to control its availability through the EdgeHistoryAISearchEnabled policy. When the feature began rolling out last year, many of our readers called it creepy, noting that they couldn't trust Microsoft to keep their data on their device. Others also questioned its usefulness, saying that it's simply a way for Microsoft to insert more AI bloat into its products. Although the Redmond tech giant had stated that it will be more mindful about surfacing Copilot features in Windows 11 apps, we later discussed how this is mostly a rebranding exercise rather than an actual axing of AI functionalities. Indeed, a Microsoft executive later emphasized how they want to reshape Windows for the agentic AI era. That said, it does seem like at least AI-powered Edge history search isn't a part of that vision.
    • For you to jump on and defend your sweetheart? I agree, it didn't.
    • Not likely, of course, that we will see routine citizenship checks as they only involve compliance with existing federal voting laws already on the books for decades. This seems a non-issue entirely. Only fools would have the government rush headlong into an AI program few can understand or predict, or even debug...
