What are your thoughts on Windows Phone 8 Update 3? Have you run into any updating issues? Has anyone lost any features from "Amber" (Like glance, radio, here drive, etc.)? Which update path did you choose? Dev account or App Studio?

I have a lumia 521 that I may update, it is on tmobile's prepaid plan and running GDR2+Amber, so I am wondering if I should update.

Another one chiming in with no issues.

Working nicely >.<

For those of you having trouble installing the WP8 SDK, roll your clock back 3 months. There's an issue with an expired signing cert. Rolling back the clock fixes it >.<

Did it on an ATT Lumia 520 that is unlocked and in use on the Claro network in Honduras

Haven't noticed any issues.

You might want to think about loss of warranty, if that's a problem for you.

Since I bought mine in the USA and use it in Honduras I don't really worry about it, no chance I would send that phone back anyway :)

How are people update this?

In order to update, you need a developer account OR an app studio account. Go to http://apps.windowsstore.com/ then click start building, Then go to http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/preview-for-developers/178ac8a1-6519-4a0b-960c-038393741e96

Install it to the phone.

Any favorite features? I like the  app tiles on the app switcher, makes them easier to recognize.

So far the changes are minor, there was talk about them pushing more things into GDR3 from 8.1 but so far we haven't seen anything we didn't already expect.   It's labeled as a preview so I think it's pretty much final and only waiting for OEMs and carriers to finish on their end, I don't expect to see other features added before it goes final.

That said, now that this program has started up, we should also see a preview of 8.1 to, now that should be interesting.

Just updated on my Lumia 920 - Was a little reluctant at first but got bored

Update went without a hitch - took about 30 minutes over my work's slow as crap WiFi. All apps still work great, no bugs for me! The update isn't anything major but quite a few niceties in there that when all taken together make for a well improved experience.

EDIT: So actually looking at my phone again, it seems for me battery life has been greatly increased. Now some of this may be GDR2 as well since I only had that for a few days before updating to 3 - but I have been using my phone moderately today and my last charge was about 10 hours ago - I still have 92%  :D

    • OK, but isn't nvidia still planning to cut off win10 support this year?

    • But they will be the first asking for a bail out the moment crap goes sideways. Its just a matter of time with this AI thing unless skynet gets us first.
    • I'm so conflicted with the Google Search AI summaries. On one hand I don't like how it's harming smaller websites by greatly reducing traffic which will harm us all in the long run but on the other hand those AI summaries often give me the information I'm after. I have never once clicked on 'show me more' though and never will.
    • Not a single company as small or large it may be is obligated to subsidize its products and sell them at a loss. Your way of thinking is socialist and as a West German with a German brother state but impoverished by state dictatorship and a socialist command economy situated to the East i can tell you - this kind of thinking very quickly leads to products not being produced anymore at all. EDIT: That does not mean that I find state support for social needs unreasonable. Quite the contrary. Together with solid workers' rights we exactly had exactly that in Germany for decades in the form of the Sozialstaat which was as the scandinavian social democratic very successful - until the number of people who drew from those resources dramatically increased (ironically a project of social democrat and green proponents).
