I got lucky with my wife.  She doesn't give a rats ass about "babes threads" and porn.  We have a very honest relationship.

I've seen marriages fall apart over it.  It definitely can be an issue.  I was really shy about it in my early 20's and ran into some issues with previous girlfriends.  After that, I just made it a habit of somehow bringing the subject up in a nonchalant kinda way and try to get a read on whoever I was dating as to what their feeling are about it.

 

My wife actually had a couple of porn DVDs (although mild porn, by my standards, but still "hardcore").  I think you would be surprised how many women actually watch porn regularly.  Certainly not as much as men do, but it isn't that much of a rarity based on my experience.

 

The key is not to keep it as a secret.  Otherwise it just builds.... and builds... into something bad.

I have a friend who was in a relationship a few years ago that fell apart over it. She didn't mind him watching porn sometimes, but he had an actual addiction to it, like he couldn't get turned on without it and he preferred watching porn and taking care of himself to having sex with her. So of course she felt unattractive and unloved and wanted him to stop watching it.

 

As a moderate, balanced part of a healthy relationship though, it seems like it should be fine. But the lady has to be confident in herself, otherwise she just thinks she isn't sexy enough for you and you want to look at other women instead. Maybe it works better if you watch it together, maybe if she gets to choose it, or something. Everybody is different though. Best to discuss it with your partner, as you said. :)
