This is not surprising nor shocking.. IW and Activision are private companies who are trying to make their money the easiest way they can..greed is part of their business..

What's shocking is that there's so many dumb people out there who literally bought the same game with some slight skinning on top. New killstreaks are terrible and pulled out of the ass and the rest are complete ripoffs from MW2. Even guns and weapons are identical with skins really to look like different weapons.

The tacked on dog is just that.. stuck in there to be a "new feature".

The future of this civilization is looking grimmer and grimmer when you have so many people who buy crap like this. It's super sad.

This is why even BF4 is a DISASTER. EA/DICE are just as terrible. Releasing a game and servers that are half finished and have literally completely unplayable since release. Crashing, server restarts and crashes, overall single player campaign that lasts barely 4 hours on hard and is made for intellectual level of a 2 year old. All these game companies and publishers are literally pushing out crap/half finished/copied games and making billions out of idiots (and yes, I bought into this tactic once, but not again).

It's not sad, it's alarming. The inability of people to say no to this garbage and half assed products. We should be suing these companies for releasing garbage products and charging full money for it, but until we don't vote with wallets and don't hit them where it hurts (law action suits for not releasing valid product they advertise) it will only get worse, not better. Although granted, not sure how, after seeing Ghosts, can get any worse. They are literally repackaging same games and selling them as new.

im not saying it to be controversial but i like the CoD games, i know what im getting and i feel the level design / game play is quite polished. I like the single player element as most of the online stuff is full of 13 year olds anyway so i don't have the time.

I generally regard them as hollywood die hard block buster type movies, i don't go in expecting a excellent plot, just enough written on a napkin to justify killing waves of enemies.

I would hate to see the series die and i don't expect it will, i think it's wrong to put it against GTA as the games are miles apart, in both quaility, story and genre. I know IW or whoever does ghosts will want to do this but it's sucide to go up against GTA, its the reason why Saints Row 4 got released in August (excellent game BTW).

Sorry for the slightly off topic but personally i would vent more rage at Bioshock infinite, which was sold on the back of the excellent bioshock series and touted as having a deep story and multiple ways of playing but turned out to be as linear as CoD with a story that was just a flakey, the best part of Bioshock was the small trip into rapure,

Personally i take the view that if you don't like it, don't buy it, if enough people do this then IW and others will rethink and release a product that people want, as for me, ill be buying it.

I don't see what the big deal is?

They're reusing assets to speed up development. I bet more developers do this, we just don't notice it.

The scene has been re-textured, different dialogue and used in a different context.

I'm not a fan of the yearly releases of CoD or Battlefield either. I feel they need to miss a year to make the games fresh again.

They need to give COD games rest 2-3 years like GTA and come out all bang on release with publicity. But they won't

Earning each year 0.5 billion $ is safer than raking in 1-2 billion $ after 2-3 years. It's risky even.

This fact alone itself makes Rockstar Games truly a Rockstar!

It hasn't tanked.

Not score wise, no, well at least not from all publications. Most have been scathing the game in the actual text review and too scared to give a low score.

title is inaccurate, this is not the ending of cod ghosts...

Correct. I believe it's the first mission? (I haven't played it)

It doesn't matter when it happens in the game, it's still copy & pasted.

Yet, it will still sell like hotcakes and make them a ton of money.  People like COD, and I'm not sure why that's a big deal.  I personally haven't purchased one since COD3, but they're still fun to play from time to time.  I can easily see the appeal and why they will continue to sell well.

And yet I never said it wouldn't sell a lot of money or deny lots of people like it? Point?

Looking for an argument for the sake of it as usual Spenser?

No, but it sounds like you are if this is actually your response.  Take it however you like.  You seem to think there's no possible way the game should be liked by people, otherwise you wouldn't spew nonsense like "they're too scared to give it low scores" which isn't something you can prove.

So you're telling me you honestly think the reviews match the scores? Destrutoid and GiantBomb's reviews are both as accurate as you can get. Other publications like EG read the same then you get to the bottom and they award 7/10? Nah, doesn't add up.

Again, I didn't say the game wouldn't sell or that people wouldn't (or shouldn't) like it. It's the 10th game in the main series, who the hell needs a review to tell them about the game by now? If you like CoD you know what to expect, you won't even wait for reviews.

Prove? Its pretty damn obvious why they wont. Its like saying GTA will get a 6.5... never will happen.. People will raise hell.

No need to get angry, I was just making a point.  Cry me a river.  I don't see any reason publications would rate it higher than they think it should be, especially given what you just said about it being the 10th game in the series, but in either case, you don't just get to makes statements like you did and pretend that's what goes on without any proof.

I only buy it for the multiplayer

There's nothing wrong with that. But this is why this copy-pasting is irrelevant and the series will never stop. A significant part of their target audience won't play the campaign at all. The series may go stale (it already is) but then they'll pour a ton of money into it to make it "fresh" again. COD is a serious player in the online FPS genre, battling it out with BF4, and moving a lot of hardware and game sales around. It's a license to print money.

I'm not angry or crying over your posts Spenser  I barely take notice of them tbh.

I made the statement without concrete proof. That's that. Not asking you to believe me, I'm not outside Gamestop with a placard trying to stop people buying it. It's just my opinion.

*ahem.. bull... crap*

All you to ever do is take snipes at each other and it's getting pretty boring for the rest of us.

I think in general you're both good members and post some good reads for Neowin, but this stupidity has got to stop.

Come on guys, get the man love on and get it out of your systems!

Well this pretty much removed any tiny chance of getting this game.

Same here. I can't believe they made it this far: from my favorite FPS to the FPS that will now bore me to death.

My interest in the franchise has been decreasing like an inverse exponential function in the past years. And while all of you have had enough of WW2 shooters, I still believe the first 2 CoDs were the strongest in the franchise and everything past CoD4 is milking the cow.

Remember the days when the dialogue in CoD would make you laugh your arse off, and the music was awesome.

Still think CoD 1 was the best overall. CoD 4 wasn't that bad, but after that... ghosts, zombies? Come on.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
