Google announced that it's offering 50% off the YouTube Premium subscription for an entire year to users who meet certain requirements. Its latest promotion is available to Google One subscribers spending $10/mo (or higher), including Google AI Pro.
"By popular demand! Starting today, new and existing $10+ subscribers get 50% off a YouTube Premium subscription for an entire year. Bundle your storage and AI benefits with ad-free videos, background play, and offline downloads for the ultimate Google experience," said Shimrit Ben-Yair, who is the VP and GM of Google AI Subscriptions, in a social media post.
Google One typically doesn't include a YouTube Premium subscription on most plans, except for the priciest one, Google AI Ultra. However, the company offers discounted YouTube pricing to Google One Premium and AI Pro users.
The latest offer is available for those living in the US, Canada, Brazil, Germany, France, and Japan. It will last through April 29, and you can check your eligibility by going to the offer page or in the Google app.
Note that if you're already subscribed to YouTube Premium, you'll need to cancel it to avoid multiple charges, then subscribe to the YouTube Premium add-on via the Google One offer page or its app. Google has laid out the steps in a support document.
Google's latest promotion comes days after it hiked the prices of YouTube Premium again, pushing the Individual plan to $15.99/mo. So at least some YouTube Premium users can save a few dollars for the next 12 months on top of their Google One subscription.
Apart from that, YouTube is testing a new way for creators to connect with their audience by showing image posts and carousels in the Shorts feed. Rolling out globally in the YouTube mobile app, you can add up to 10 images in a single carousel along with text overlays and royalty-free music from YouTube's Audio Library.
