What features would you all like to see added in the next PS4 firmware update?

Some of the features that have been confirmed to be coming in a future firmware update are:

  • Sony Pulse Elite Headset Support( I think also bluetooth headsets in general too?)
  • MP3 Support
  • DLNA Support
  • Suspend/resume mode
  • Sharing videos to YouTube

If there are others that I missed let me know.

What I would like to see added are:

  • Ability to pause downloads
  • Be able to follow a channel and or user right from the streaming page when watching on PS4.
  • Video quality of the live streams increased when watching on PS4.

Thats all I can think of right now.

You pretty much listed everything I would like to see.

Off the top of my head, I can also think of a few OS/UI fixes id like to see, such as adding sorting/filtering options in the Ps store.

Also, allow us to disable the activity feed or at least give us control over what gets displayed.

For a feature that is highly unlikely, id like to have the ability to use external storage.

My wish list:

1) Some sort of interface for if a patch is installing.  You can see patch downloads as they go, but the actual install isn't there.  Also they keep note of the install progress in the downloads, doesn't make sense.

2) Not sure if it was a Killzone only thing or what, but there was a patch for it.  It told me there was a patch and let me play anyways.  However I didn't know if it was actually getting the patch, if the patch was going to install, or what.  But having some sort of visual patch system (ie: patch for X is downloading),  also maybe a notification that an install is going.

3) I would like the option to pin/unpin things from the main bar.

ie) Remove music/movies unlimited.   Make netflix a tile not a sub tile, that sort of thing.

I have DLNA built into my new TV so streaming support isn't that important to me.  Also, external storage for game installs via USB would be awesome.

It is still kind of confusing, I couldn't tell if it was downloading, installing, etc.  There was no in-game indication or even system notification.

The original PS3 models had PS2 support, but it was removed in later models to reduce the price. :)

There was 2 versions.   The original PS3's has the Emotion Engine chip, so it could do native ps2 emulation.  To reduce the costs they stopped including the chip, and did software emulation.   They eventually removed it as it just didn't work as well.

Interesting! :) Didn't realize they tried to emulate it after removing the chip.

Definitely agree there. Some general customization would be very welcomed.

Yea, the GUI is pretty easy to navigate, and is fast.. but it is very lacking, and I see it becoming pretty rough as it starts to fill up.  At the moment I only have one person on my friends that has a ps4 so 99% of the what's new content is "Firey21 played Killzone Shadow Fall" Which I find weird it tells me what I did.

 Yeah I noticed that too.

It seems like Sony and MS focused on the performance side as priority one and decided to build/improve their OSes function wise over time after launch.

There should be a PlayStation 2 emulator, since there wasn't in the PS3.

Yes there was. My $660 PS3 read CF cards, SD cards, Memory Stick pro duos, allowed 4 mice to be connected to it at one time, and also played every playstation console game released.. All PS1, PS2 and PS3. the 40GB model after mine had PS2 software support as well. All CFW consoles can use the 'software emulator' which works OK... Sony are just cheap.

Your only luck is re-writes of the games into 'digital copies'. It'd be a considerable amount of work to software re-write the PS2 in X86 arch. *cough**cough*
