Should the School have these rules? No, it's lame.

Does the School have these rules? Yes, so obey them or get out.

She isn't a special case here and she won't be in the real world.

Exactly. It's much tougher in the real world than any school will be.

Hair rules, silly.

But does this Christian Academy teach evolution?

Deru kugi wa utareru

The nail that sticks out gets hammered down.

Hehe. Actually, that's a mistake. Also made by many Japanese people.
It is, in fact, "Deru kui wa utareru"
The stake that sticks out gets hammered down.

I guess that with "kui" and "kugi" sounding similar, and both being things which are hammered down, it was inevitable that kugi would start doing the rounds as nails are more familiar to most people than stakes....

Reality is gonna be a bitch when this girl eventually graduates from school and tries to get a job when they tell her to cut her hair because it's distracting in the work place.

Whoopi Goldberg didn't. Life isn't always black and white, most of the time it's grey and it's not just 50 shades of it.

Yeah, I'm only doing a Sociology Degree with Major in Behavioral Psychology. I don't understand how any of it works.

Tell me why we hate the word stereotype due to it being used on us.

The word has been used to refer to any and all types of people, not just race or one race in particular.

Apples to Oranges. We have a specific stereotypical attribute in our race.

It kinda sucks having curly hair. Not because it looks bad or anything but it's just more maintenance and harder to style. I could definitely see her hair being a problem if it's blocking kids view of the whiteboard or something but it doesn't really look like shes tall enough for that to be a problem.

Hello,

She is spoilt. Her parents are a travesty and the school is 100% correct. Kid needs to get real.

You go to school to LEARN. It is not a fashion statement.

And her fashion statement keeps her from learning?

Imagine, if anyone of any race, just let their hair do whatever with little care to it.

Thats what I do to it: I just clean it and thats it. I dont comb my hair and let it grow naturally. I get up from bed and go to work. Noone has said anything ever about my hair.

The original story was updated.  Looks like she "won't" be facing expulsion now (most likely because of the media backlash):

Yup same thing I was going to post.

The only reason I can see her being told something about her hair is that she is sitting and her hairs doesnt allow someone behind behind them see the class.

All that being said, it is a private school. Get with their rules or get out.

Girl says school threatening expulsion over her 'natural form'.

Argues why can't I go to school without clothes on, it's natural.

Something being natural doesn't automatically make it ok. It's natural to go to the bathroom too but I don't want people taking a dump in public spaces. It's a private school and if they want to restrict haircuts they can. I'd certainly put what her hair looks like in a category with other expressive ones like mohawks. If she doesn't like the rule take her money (I assume since it's a private school she pays to go there) and go elsewhere, their loss. I do hope it's at least clean though.

This makes too much common sense. It'll never work.

    • Notion is shutting down its email client one year after launch by David Uzondu In April 2025, Notion launched Notion Mail, an AI-powered email client that acted as a customizable overlay for your existing accounts. Instead of replacing Gmail entirely, it reimagined how users interacted with their inboxes by offering features like intelligent auto-labeling alongside automated calendar scheduling. Now, a little over a year later, Notion has announced that it is shutting it all down on September 22. Since Notion Mail is a frontend client, most of your Gmail data will remain safe inside your Google account, but the company said that you must export stuff specific to Notion Mail, like snippets, custom auto-label instructions, email drafts, and scheduled drafts, before the deadline. Starting today, June 25, you can export that data directly from the app or the web interface, and this grace period will last all the way until September 21. Once September 22 arrives, Notion will permanently delete all unsaved local assets, including files you attached to snippets. Your existing database syncs and mail blocks will persist, though they will stop receiving new messages after the shutdown. Notion advises that if you or your company operate within a regulated environment, you must transition off earlier than the general shutdown date to maintain compliance. Companies that rely on HIPAA coverage face an even tighter timeline and must transition away from the platform by June 30th. Notion, in its X announcement post, basically said that it doesn't see the point of maintaining a standalone email client, especially when users have shifted their habits toward automation. The platform pointed to its Notion agents, which it claims "more than half of Notion Mail users" already employ to manage emails without ever opening an actual inbox, so it is "going all in" on using these agents to run your inbox. Notion introduced Notion Agents last September at the "Make With Notion" conference, giving users AI-powered digital assistants that can do stuff like run in the background on specific schedules (e.g., summarizing your daily open tasks every morning at 8 AM).

    • But they will be the first asking for a bail out the moment crap goes sideways. Its just a matter of time with this AI thing unless skynet gets us first.
    • I'm so conflicted with the Google Search AI summaries. On one hand I don't like how it's harming smaller websites by greatly reducing traffic which will harm us all in the long run but on the other hand those AI summaries often give me the information I'm after. I have never once clicked on 'show me more' though and never will.
