The performer's second concert documentary Believe is turning in a dismal performance at the Christmas box office, where it has earned only $3.1 million in its first three days. On Friday, it fell below $1 million to $790,000 for a 14th place finish.

Believe is now only expected to take in $4.5 million over the course of its five-day debut (Wednesday through Sunday), including a meek weekend haul of $2.2 million. Granted, the movie is said to have cost only $5 million to make, but Believe will do only a fraction of the business that Bieber's Never Say Never enjoyed in February 2011.

But...what about all of his beliebers? Don't tell me people are finally starting to ignore this guy?

And how can a concert documentary cost $5 million? The cost of putting together a concert, perhaps, but a few guys with cameras filming the behind-the-scenes parts? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what a concert documentary is, though.

I guess fans can only be so loyal after he repeatedly turned up hours late for several concerts, and leaned over a railing a spat on them.

It debuted on Christmas day. Most kids must have been at home, celebrating the holidays. I'd give it another week before sticking a fork in it.

Well, typically Thanksgiving is the busiest day for theaters and Christmas is the second.

Uhm.. I drove past the movie theater on Christmas.. it was packed.

Who the hell goes to the cinema on Christmas day?  Weird.

Either way, 2013 was the beginning of the end for young Bieber.  He has had 101 opportunities to say "OK, I've acted like a jerk, I'm a kid growing up in the public eye and I humbly apologise" (as his management agency should have had him do 100% in my opinion).  But he has carried on literally spitting on his fans, abusing the general public, acting like the biggest jerk in the industry (I'm sorry Kanye, I'mma let you finish but Bieber was the bigger jerk this year).

IF he and his brand want any kind of longevity, he needs to disappear for say 2 years, come back not reinvented but just more likeable and more genuine.  But that won't happen, the industry is all about short term profit.  I also think a lot of his fans have switched over to the (genuinely less talented) One Direction.

Nothing else is really open on Christmas day except a few restaurants. Plus lots of people get movie passes/gift cards for Christmas.

Yes, which they could use anytime.  Don't most people spend it with their friends/family?  Maybe it's just me, but it just seems a really odd thing to do.  To each their own :)

They go to the movies with the friends/family.  It's not like they all go alone haha.

But still, sitting in a dark room staring at a screen for 2 hours on Christmas day does seem a little odd to me... maybe it's just me being a Brit but I like being at home with my family on Christmas day, eating turkey, then relaxing in the afternoon in the lounge with my family playing a game or two, perhaps watching some comedy on TV, while having a drink or two, then having a nice cold meat salad for tea (dinner) pulling crackers and wearing those paper hats, getting those lame cracker gifts, and reading those so bad they're good "jokes"  ;-)

Can't we just skip all the ego trippimg and go straight to his OD - please?

Better yet - someon should throw a synthetic weed party and invite him, Kanye, Kim, Lindsay, Miley and about 10 others so they can cannibalize each other.

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
