max22
Good choice I have a similar model and it gives the best electric shave I have ever had, although replacing the head every 3 years is expensive. You have to replace the head ever 3 years ? I thought I had to replace the blades ever year. What is the heads ? Link ? May be talking about the same thing so trying to make sure. You don't have to do it, but i think i did mine after 3-4 years as it was looking grubby, so yours may last longer if you have that cleaning machine with it. The whole head pops off and you buy a complete new head with the cutters on it, you may get a replacement head warning message on the razor after a few years but this can be reset. HawkMan
I've tried both types and dislike them for several reasons. You'll never get as close a shave as with a razor. It actually takes longer than with a razor, or you hurry and end up with random uneven stray hairs. It will eventually bite you: the screen will tear, the battery will get weak and it will eat your face. ummm what ? Don't know about Brauns since I've only had philips, the cheaper end of them as well. But the battery last for years, they shave as close as I can shave my crappy "growth"(it's to sparse to grow a beard and even where it does grow it's not all over, and the sparse siberian forest that does grow grows fast and grows into thick solid hairs so I can't not shave either)with any of the better razors blades except for a straight which I haven't and probably won't try, to much effort. Also at least the Philips won't ever "bite you. the cover over the blades are to thick, with bigger gaps, whereas brauns have a thin film with smaller openings. either way the Philips won't "bite" or eat your face. and you're supposed to replace the knives once a year anyway. Yes that is it but it will last far longer, if mine wasnt grubby inside from just rinsing under the tap i probably wouldn't have changed mine. :)
HawkMan
Tried electric shavers for years. My face always felt sore after...razor burn. Switched to a normal razor and much better. I normally shave before my shower since the soap/shampoo helps make my face feel better after. I cannot shave everyday tho or else it irritates my skin to much. Plus, I hate shaving Aftershave lotion fixes both problems. Also if a Braun causes a rash, you might be better off with a philips.
Orange
I was going to do a thread on this but seeing as this is already here,i will ask. I'm looking for the stubble 3 day look and want to keep it like that all the time, So my question is i've never used a electric razor before, always been a shaver/cream person. Does a electric razor have settings where i can keep my stubble but maintain it. Thanks.

You just adjust for the necessary cutting length and you are set. I recommend Moser Professional or Oster.

max22
Braun. Philips round blades is very clumsy and inaccurate. Thanks. I haven't decided if I am keeping the Philps or not yet. I like shaving in the shower and with the Braun you can't. :(

tim_s
Hi, I used Mach-5 for countless years and with my hyper-sensitive skin, it would "burn". I once read a post on Neowin regarding dual blades or cut throat blades. I was so impressed with the findings and sensible comments I bought all my groomsmen for my wedding the very suggestions made in the post. I used the dual blade system for the past 2 years until I had to moved in a rush because our landlord needed his place back immediately and in the chaotic packing *temporarily* lost my shaver. Now, the dual shaver was not cheap but the running costs is so little. I felt I could use the money to get a decent wet / dry electric shaver. I purchased a highly recommended razor from "personal edge" by Philips. The use was great, easy and *safe* but it would *eat* my neck. This was annoying and even after a month, the situation was still occurring. .. The moment I found my dual blade - I knew this was the best shave a man could get. Electric tend to be irritating for my skin. When i was using an electric razor I've switched periodicaly with a proper blade razor to give my skin a chance. Despit the fact that electric give a faster shaving, the best that i've tried is Wet Shaving with a good old Double Edge razor
