y_notm
My friend wants to open a port range so she can connect to IRC, specifically ports 6660-6670, but I can't figure out how to do that. she has cable and no other firewall, so disabling it isnt an option. Is there a quick way to add a range? because it would suck to add like 10 different services to the firewall if it helps, diemen.nl.eu.undernet.org is the server she trys to connect to. superlgn
Hm. Outgoing isn't the problem... That stuff should be pretty open. It's probably ident that's causin her grief. Allow incoming connections to port 113. With the firewall enabled, dcc's will become a problem. mIRC uses random ports between 1024 and 5000, you'd probably wanna have her setup a range of 5000 to 5010, then manually add rules to allow connections to that port. I don't know what client is being used, but mIRC/Bersirc both have similar configurations, I'm sure you'll figure it out.
y_notm
ya it was ident that was causing the problem, the channel she would join required ident to gain access. it stopped that though yesterday, so its all good for her now. but thanks for the help.
