why is that the evil side will get their light saber red-ish?

Same reason the Decepticons have red eyes.

Because red is "evil". Unless we're dealing with Spider-Man. Or Deadpool. Or Optimus Prime. Or Superman. Or . . . .

It's probably to create a visual link to Darth Vader's red lightsaber, honestly.

Red has been the dark side color and the color of the empires gun/laser fire while the rebels etc always have green.  It just helps, they can't all be the same color, having them different helps during fights so you can get a better sense of what's going on and who's shooting who.

As far as the new Japanese trailer goes, I don't get why they get a different, more expanded, version compared to the one we got before?  This new one gives away a bit more of the story actually, not exactly spoilers, but it answers a few things.

Actually most blasters in Star Wars are red. Though it depends on the gun, Most post-Clone Wars guns are red, whereas clone blasters were generally blue.

Red was not the only saber that was considered "dark side", Technically, purple was considered dark side as well, but later was considered a multi-side color. Orange is sometimes considered dark as well.

I'm still pretty bothered by that red lightsaber though.. but I'll be okay with it as long as its some type of Artifact Lightsaber

As for the Japanese trailer, very interesting that this wasn't officially a US trailer, though it could eventually be.

why hasn't more details of the plot been revealed yet? wanna know what part luke has in the story and is there a death star type super weapon? the poster shows a big round thing...looks awfully familiar.

Why would you want to know? I'd rather they keep it all a secret instead of having it be like Terminator Genesys where the trailer shows literally everything and you don't actually have to see the movie after watching it.

Read the article. It's a terminally ill fan who Disney let see an early screening before he passed. Nice of them. :)

But you're right - it was a very nice gesture on Disney's part!

Actually, the big round thing IS Luke! Things got a little weird for Mr. Skywalker after his dad died . . .

:shiftyninja:

In all honesty, I'm doing my best to avoid all information about the film - I want to be surprised!

    • I think the car analogy is more this: Left hand drive, basic commands on the left side of the infotainment screen. Right hand drive, basic commands on the right side of the infotainment screen. Granted, you're not swapping between the two often so it's doesn't really work. But it's to do with the proximity of you (your mouse, or the driver) to the controls.
    • I mean, the old one was broken and so stupidly complex for many users, so I don't see that as a feasible option. A context menu needs to be simple to use, and for me the Windows 11 style actually worked really well for me, and many others. I used to have to scroll the damn context menu just to get to "file properties" in Windows 10. That was not a good experience, and I'm sure you'd agree. What they're trying to do is make it the best of both worlds, as clearly you'd prefer the Win10 style. I'm curious how they're going to do this.
    • The "Show more options" has its place, as does the simpler context menu, but it should perhaps be a separate fly-out rather than relaunching the entire, old context menu. The old context menu was getting absurd in Windows 10. Often I'd have to make the context menu scroll just to get to "File properties" on my old laptop. Even without much installed, the amount of items was just too much. It's a context menu, not a "do all" menu. Making it configurable is fraught with challenges too, so I'm interested to see how Microsoft tackles this one.
    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
