Here's a few tidbits we missed from D23. After the presentation, theStar Wars: The Force Awakens director chatted a little about what he feels Gwendoline Christie will being to the role of the villainous Captain Phasma. We also have some detailed new shots of her striking armor...

While we are beginning to learn a little more about the new characters that'll populate Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the movie's release date looms ever closer, one in particular has remained shrouded in mystery - in fact, we've yet to even see her without that chrome helmet on. We know Captain Phasma is a First Order villain, we know she'll be played by Game Of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie, and we know she sports some damn cool armor, and that's about it.

While speaking to the press after the D23 Star Wars presentation, J.J. Abrams... didn't actually reveal anything else about Phasma! Instead, he spoke about the actress playing her and what she brought to the role, and it sounds like he was very pleased with her work. Collider also snapped a few nice close-ups of that awesome armor.

"I can only say that Gwendoline Christie is my favorite. She just killed it. You think, “Well, what? she's wearing a costume.” But it’s a lot to wear and to have a performance when you’re wearing that requires a different kind of skill set and an additional talent, and she’s got it. It’s an incredible thing to work with her. I am glad that a character has been designed that is visually as stunning as that is, because she deserves it and the fans do to. When I first saw that design my mind was blown because it looked so undeniable."

That's her? Nice. Time to gtfo of this thread, though, I'm beginning to feel more and more will be revealed in the coming months.

If they did what they did with the prequels - no screenings - then there shouldn't be much leaked until the last few days before it comes out.

There should be a final trailer soon though.

Looks like just a chrome plated storm trooper? Also why would the sith light saber require cross-guards?

Did you have an awakening in your pants?

naaa...the J.J. Abrams lens flares settled me down a bit (I do not like them).  :)

Come Dec 18 though ... might be the first (and only) time I ever go to a movie premiere.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
