Must resist urge to read spoilers.

Don't read the spoilers! I myself only watched the first trailer. After that, I avoided all Star Wars news. And I had the best time today at the cinema for years! :)

Not going to post any spoilers - but it was GREAT :) Loads of action, loads of fun, good story, incredible visual effects...

I think I could point out things I disliked, and out of our group everyone had a few areas of things that didn't 100% sit right but really, given the burden and weight of expectation on everyone involved in that film, I think they fairly knocked it out of the park.

Go and see it, and go and enjoy it :)

If you were a fan of episodes 4/5/6 and you hated 1/2/3, this will go a major way to erasing those awful films from your memory.

For me Mad Max: Fury Road was the better film; the plot did exactly what it needed to. There are plenty of movies that have very little in the way of plot but make up for it in other ways - Lost In Translation is a great example of that.

As for pacing, I thought The Force Awakens was fine. It would be nice to see an extended version that has more atmosphere and flavour but the film works as it is. Certainly it wasn't a mess like Man Of Steel.

thats another thing,  Local civilizations (ewoks, binks underwater civvi and the like )  were non existent. It seemed more like soap than star wars movie :/

So here's my review:

Not only did The Force awaken, it woke up looking fabulous; it woke up with a cup of Folgers and a bacon, bacon, bacon sandwich; it woke up with Wood that would make Ron Jeremy jealous.

Go see it. Now.

*sigh*  Saturday afternoon for me and my daughter... My boy saw it last night with his school buddies, and is just fit to burst with spoilers now. :p

I saw it last night and I think i t was a great movie with "Star Wars" characters, but it didn't feel like a "Star Wars" movie.  Does that make sense? Does that it was good or bad? I don't know yet, but I'll be taking my kids to watch it next week so I'll get to see it once more.

I'd show up on time, and then take a 2 hour intermission 2 hours in. 1 was decent, 2 was garbage.

Of course, the smartest move would be to show up just in time for A New Hope.

Yeah, I meant to say 6 hours late, skip prequels entirely.

Great movie.

With that said, it was almost a carbon copy of A New Hope.  That didn't take any enjoyment away from me, but I watched it and felt that I knew what was going to happen with each turn.

I think that was intentional. It is a story of how history repeats itself.

It's because the complexity and depth were missing. The thing is, I watched a new hope again the day before i saw it and felt the same about that one.

I think we (or at least me) were hoping to rekindle some of the nostalgia with star wars and it didn't happen. Of course, it rarely ever does.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, as I said, but I meant to ask a question of those who have already seen it. It's a spoiler question, so DON'T read it (PLEASE!) unless you have seen the film.

Spoiler

Is Rey Luke's daughter? Please PM me if you are afraid of revealing your views here.

I haven't seen VII yet, but I feel like it's a major let down. To me, it seems rather un-interesting. It feels like it's just a "Do over" of the first 6.

Personally, I'd rather see and learn about things before Episodes 1, 2, and 3. Before the fall of the Sith, and what not. Kind of like SWTOR. Just seems like there were juicier stories than this. I probably won't see it until after it hits DVD/Bluray.

For me the story was not that fancy. Difficult to explain why without spoilers...

But it felt like Star Wars, the CGI was great, but not too much modern, that you can think it is too new, it is not Star Wars.

Abrams tried to do not the same mistakes like in Star Trek. But he provided his options to do that in future episodes.

I'm skeptic, I guess a final feedback is possible after the trilogy is completed.

Having now see it as of yesterday, I think I can safely say... JJ Abrams, I forgive you for Star Trek (But not Khan :p ).  You're clearly are not a Trekkie, you're a Star Wars fan, aren't'cha?

He is. He said so in an interview back when the first Trek was made.

    • Microsoft released new Defender update for Windows 11, 10, Server ISO installations by Sayan Sen Microsoft releases new Windows Defender update packages very frequently to protect against various newly discovered malware. Once a while every three months or so, the company also pushes out these updates to Windows images (WIM and VHD) and ISOs, that are used to install Windows. Hence with the newest Windows 11 update available via the official MCT tool, you should get these definitions. This update package is necessary as a Windows installation image may contain old, outdated anti-malware definitions and software binaries. Aside from better security, these updates can also provide improved performance benefits in some cases. When a new Windows installation is set up, there may be a temporary security risk due to outdated Microsoft Defender protection in the OS installation images. This happens because the antimalware software included in these images might not be up to date. Thus Microsoft says that these updated definitions essentially help close this protection gap. Microsoft delivered the latest security definitions for Windows images via security intelligence update version 1.445.323.0. The Defender package version is also the same. It applies to Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, Win 10 Ent LTSC 2019, Win 10 Ent LTSB 2016, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft writes: "This package updates the anti-malware client, anti-malware engine, and signature versions in the OS installation images to following versions: Platform version: 4.18.26040.7 Engine version: 1.1.26040.8 Security intelligence version: 1.447.236.0" From Microsoft's security bulletin, we learn that the security intelligence update version 1.447.236.0 was released early last month and adds threat detections for various malware like trojan, backdoor exploits, ransomware, stealers, AutoKMS, and more. For those wondering, the latest intelligence update is version 1.451.297.0 at the time of writing.
