Now that Facebook will own Oculus, are you going to buy an Oculus Rift?

What I find funny is that people are abandoning something ground breaking just because Facebook owns them. For some reason I don't have the same hatred for Facebook as everyone else does. If it's an amazing product i'm going to buy it regardless of who owns it and i've been drooling over the Oculus rift ever since I saw it.

If the vision for the Oculus Rift is still the same I don't see the problem. I think it is silly people think non-gaming uses for the Oculus Rift will take priority over gaming. There is a development kit for it people can do what they want with it gaming or not.

Their loss. The interest they garnered for their product was effectively destroyed with one announcement.

The General public does not hate facebook as much as a bunch of you seem too.

Why the hate?

I've never liked Facebook, not their "products" or procedures, and I don't trust them to actually keep Oculus independent (Since they're already talking about sticking ads in it)

Edit: Best thing about Oculus now is that they've got Valve and Sony working on tech.

Edit 2: And yes, the general public doesn't dislike Facebook as much, but that doesn't mean anything.

I hate facebook anyway... but I don't post there often..

You never know... Facebook can share your data with others that can be pulled from VR device.

I guess i'm the wrong guy to talk to about privacy, my entire Facebook profile is public.

Except the general public is not going to be in the VR market for a very long time, if ever.

This is still a waste, but Oculus are by no means the monopoly or even leader in terms of VR. Valve's internal VR prototypes are said to be leagues ahead of Oculus's.
