Why can't they get someone new we've never seen before. It aways feels like a movie when I recognize everyone on screen. It feels less like i'm watching a movie if I don't know half the people.

Well that thinking falls apart once you see Tom on screen. 

 

Besides I always think that this guy and the actor from ready player one are the same, how are they not related?

Does this move surprise anyone?  Sorry to say but just look at Kelly McGillis today, she hasn't held up well, probably the drug use after the success of the original top gun.

I believe so, or they're a good bit into pre-production.    Actually IMDB has it marked as "filming".

That's good, hoepfully the feel and look of this film will be good. Haven't seen a good "jet fighter" film in ages.

 

Also the technology of aerial shots should be good!

OK so Top Gun: Maverick is being filmed and set to be released June 2020. Awesome. The Iceman (Val Kilmer) is returning along with Tom Cruise, but the one person who everyone though would return is not: Kelly McGillis.

 

Well, after looking at this photo I can probably see why she was not asked to be in this film. Although she is only 5 years older than Tom Cruise, she looks like his mother. He is currently 56 and she is 61.  What happened to this woman is beyond me, but one this is for certain, life hasn’t been too good to her.

if you look up "Letting yourself go" in the dictionary, I think you would find a picture of her. She looked pretty good 9 years ago.

I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of the movie will use real planes with maybe some minor CGI work to maybe add more planes in some big dog fight or to make them look like they're flying closer etc.  Otherwise I think they spent a good deal of time up in the air filming.

I just don't know if I can keep my emotions in check, when that classic theme hits, oh boy.  Original top gun is still one of the movies I've watched many times, and I don't have a long list of them.

So have they said what year this movie takes place in? It looks like they are flying F-14's still and those were retired from service in 2006 but the plot says they're fighting drones, so it would definitely be set in modern day..?

 

Either way it looks good.
