I just got an ereader and I haven't started the series yet (kinda left some trilogies hanging when I stopped reading much back in the day) but this show is fantastic.  Not sure what my schedule is anymore but definitely grabbing the books at some point.

I don't know much about the books either but from the little I do, I'd say the books and tv show have a good number of changes between them.   Probably due to episode count limits and not being able to show everything as always, but I think they've also changed a good chunk of story to.   Still, I'm ok with story changes if it helps a tv show flow better, I just view it as an alternate retelling of the original novel/book etc.

I recently started on the books, and so far, I think the show changes make the story much better than how it's portrayed in the books.

Before Season 4 even airs...it has already been renewed for a 5th season.

Guess they got a good idea of the size of the fan base by the season 4 reactions and the SDCC news that they jumped on it right away.

Looking forward to this...

This quote from the show runner has me more excited...

Quote

"We’re no longer bound by the archaic content, language, and runtime restrictions you’re constantly forced to deal with on broadcast and basic cable... The shows on Amazon Prime speak for themselves: this is a platform that values complex, layered storytelling, and we’re thrilled to be on it — it’s the perfect home for The Expanse."

Here's a recap of seasons 1 - 3...

Probably going to have to watch that at some point even though Kevin Smith annoys me for some reason.

Just got around to watching the first ep of season 4, very good start IMO.  Avasarala has the best f'ing lines in the ep.  She's tired of everyones bs and isn't taking any.  I love her character.

Fantastic season 4 BUT, I wish Amazon hadn't dropped it all in one go.. I couldn't resist temptation and now I've got no Expanse to look forward to... :(

I've only seen the first ep at this time, but I'm guessing there's going to be a season 5 to look forward to?

Oh sure, I guess so too... but that's like, a year away!

Trust me folks, don't binge watch this show, it deserves to be spaced out. ;)

it was pretty much the best thing I'd ever seen on Syfy.  No doubt.

I'm sure if Syfy had the extra money needed they might have kept it but who knows?  Anyway, I'm taking it a little slow and have only seen up to episode 4 so far.

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
