Also, will be great in retail as well.  Employees walking around doing inventory, helping customers...instant price check and detailed info about the product.  Police are also using it.

 

May applications for something like this.

The medical community isn't clamoring for the device. I should know as I work for America's leading EHR vendor and there hasn't been really any more than cursory interest in having us integrate with it. It may come in the future if the device proves itself, but right now that's also niche, like all it's other use cases.

That doc's situation could have just as easily been solved by using wall-mounted displays in their ER rooms. Then everyone can see the necessary information at a glance and not just the person wearing the device.

I was just giving an example of the possible uses of the device.  This is a lot of areas where a device like this could come in handy.

Maybe, but not until it's a realistic price and actually fills a void. Right now, unless you're invested in this technology in some way, there is no real reason to purchase it. It's basically a devkit and it's far, far too expensive. The things I could buy with $1,500 would be much cooler and more useful than Google Glass.

 

Shame Microsoft didn't make it, I'd enjoy calling it Microsoft Glass Windows or Microsoft Windows Glass.

Do you realize how many times in history that was said.  I remember the same things said about cell phones and wireless headsets.

 

This tech is coming whether or not Google brings it to the forefront. 

I have no problem with people bringing tech like this to us, I'm just saying at $1500 to effectively beta test the Glass then its not worth it. 

If Google added the tech into fashionable glasses without the part that sticks out, then I could see more people buying it, but in its current form... No.

What I look forward to the most with the release of Glass, or similar devices, is all the paranoid and violence that ensues because of it.  Going to punch someone for wearing glasses or if you think they recorded you?  Then prepare for retaliation or spending some time in jail.  If you are that afraid of tech, or paranoid that you are being recorded, then I would advise moving far away from civilization...even then you have satellites to worry about.

 

Anyway, more and more tech like this is coming so better get used to it.  If you cannot live in todays world, then you will eventually be obsolete and meaningless.

I will only buy them when they fit in with normal glasses, having the additional extra use for my normal glasses would be fantastic.

These would be awesome if they looked like normal glasses or close to them.

 

It would be a no brainier from someone like myself who loves tech to buy a pair of glasses with this kinda of functionality.

 

But we're a long way from that stage at least.

As much as I (or everyone else here) would love to be watching Youporn videos on the way to work on the train... No.

In fact, Im pretty sure at least here in Australia, if people publically wore them in the city or street they would get attacked.
