I'm finding a noticeable difference in PvP compared to Dark Souls, which I can't say if it's a good or bad thing.

I suck at PvP in DS games. I've never been into it and didn't even try to be prepared for it. Pretty much every single time I was invaded I was raped by some naked guy dancing around my heavy armoured character.

I even sometimes played offline just to not be bothered with that.

In Bloodborne I suck too, but it'd seem that most other people suck even more than I do. I've been invaded a lot in Nightmare Frontier and Mensis Nightmare, and so far have only died once

Maybe it's just that PvP in Bloodborne plays almost the same as the rest of the game, while in DS you needed a completely different approach.

I said that I don't know if that's a good thing because if, while not liking PvP, I haven't felt the urge to play offline, maybe that means that PvP is not actually fun for those that like it?

There's certainly a lot less to do when invading. You can't troll people activating traps (like those spiked bridges in DS), no magic (mostly) and there are very few different fighting styles. Different weapons, yeah, but not that many and not all that different in PvP.

Now I have to decide if I go back to playing Bloodborne or check out The Witcher 3 (rented the latter from GameFly and it arrived today).

I will only have 1 night to play before I leave for vacation, but my plan is to stay up all night playing whichever game I do play as I leave to catch my plane at 4 AM. If I stay up until 4 I should be able to sleep on the entire plane ride.

So yeah, I am leaning towards going back to Bloodborne. I feel like it might be the better game to play delirious.  :s

Patch out tomorrow, here are some notes

Patch info from dual shockers citing the Bloodborne japanese page

Password matching can now be done regardless of level.
Password matching can now be done even if registered to a different oath.
Quicksilver bullets and blood vials can now be stored up to 600 (the previous limit was 99) in the storage in Hunter

If that means, as it seems, that you can now play with friends regardless of what level each player has, that would be incredibly cool.

My brother and I tested it yesterday. It's definitely true. Prior to the last patch, matchmaking following the "+/-10 + 10%" rule, which we tested thoroughly. Yesterday we tested summoning each other, in both directions, when we were way outside that range; and, it worked like a charm. It also feels like they sped up the connection times again too, which is always a plus.

We finished the defiled chalice and all other non-root chalice dungeons yesterday except for the Great Pthumeru Ilyll chalice. It requires a reagent we haven't seen yet. So I guess it's on to Mensis. Feels like we're almost done.

It's been taking us a while to get through the game, because we're only playing an hour or two every few days. He has been finishing up his semester and I've been rather busy at work. Either way, the amount of content in this game is amazing; especially compared to the "AAA" norm. So good.

Never got to play before I left for vacation. I'm in Mexico and not many English speaking channels on the TV in the hotel. The one that is is HBO Plus and they have run a little 7 or so minute vignette about Bloodborne itself. Besides the host calling the chalice dungeons "chapter" dungeons it is really interesting to see how they handle marketing outside of the US and they really make it look amazing. So much game play I've never seen on any other marketing. Really made me excited to get back to playing it once I get back home.

Would be cool to see that, I'll have a search on YT!

ah great news regarding the face that Password matching can now be done on bloodborne regardless of level, I might redownload the game to help my friend out now.

He should just shareplay to you and let you platinum his game for him :p Rob you ever thought about selling yourself as a trophy hunter?

ahaha, only gotten into trophies on the ps4 as I didn't enjoy playing my ps3 because I hated the DS3 and prefered the xbox and its now the reverse; they ruined the xbox one in more ways than one including the controller. Hence I have a ridiculous gamerscore compared to trophy haul.

I thought the controller on the One was pretty similar to the 360 is it not? But yeah the DS3 was a terrible controller overall.

No they made it slightly smaller and changed the position of the triggers and bumpers, slight angles and tiny bits smaller but ruined them at the same time.

My brother and I finished Bloodborne yesterday, and I got my platinum; after a long drawn-out play through. It was pretty good all the way through. Not too many things that i disliked about it, and 2 of the 3 endings actually had significant cut-scenes! (unlike the other Souls games) Too bad the overall story and endings didn't make any sense. But that's 'Souls" for you.

We stopped right before Mergo's Wet Nurse to do all of the chalice dungeons because it felt like we we near the end of the game. Boy were we right lol. Wet Nurse and the optional end bosses were really easy after suffering the Defiled chalice dungeons.

It's, by far, the best PS4 exclusive so far and probably will be for a long time. I can't wait for the DLC!

The story to Bloodborne is actually pretty cool, better than DS2.... Once you look it up and have it all explained :p

Any tips for the Blood Starved Beast?

Yes, I am only just at that part. I took a very extended break from Bloodborne.

Equip your best rapid poison resist gear that you have. Equip any antidotes that you have for quick access, because it gains a poison aura in the last stage of the fight. Learn its "wind up" stance for its instant-charge so you can anticipate the attack and dodge it. Then it's just your typical "Souls" boss fight tactics: keep moving laterally, dodging and circle-strafing around the boss, attack once or twice and back off.

I can't really think of anything else specific to that boss. If that doesn't work, you can always try to summon someone to help. But keep in mind the more phantoms you have in your game, the higher the boss's HP.

Thanks all. So I never have even used Fire Paper, when I use it it will just apply automatically to whatever weapon I have equipped? Is that how it works?
I think I may never beat this game.  :/

Yeah it gives a temporary fire damage buff to the weapon you're currently holding. I think it lasts a minute or so. I never timed it myself, but it lasts for a good chunk of time.

Serrated weapons with fire paper do the best damage.

So either cane whip mode with fire, cleaver compact mode, or spear either mode.

There is also an NPC summon available.

I didn't realize "serrated" was a damage type that enemies could be weak to. That's interesting. What other ones are there?

All beasts are weak to fire. So fire paper or the flamethrower work well (flamethrower really needs arcane investment though). I forget the name for the other type of additional damage, it's like holy. Ludwigs has like 50% bonus damage for it, and the canes normal mode has 25%.

I'd need to look up all the weapon stats again. But yeah fire and serrated damage together is great against any beast.

For lightning paper Rom is a notable weak boss.

    • Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms looming price hikes due to memory shortages by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Memory and chip shortages have led to significant price increases for electronics over the past year, and it seems that more hikes are on the way for upcoming smartphones and computers. Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is planning to increase the prices of some of its products due to the ongoing memory and storage shortages. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook confirmed the looming price hikes for Apple’s future products, adding that “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable.” He also said the company is doing its best to “mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.” The Apple CEO also noted that the allocation of a large portion of memory chips to AI companies has contributed to shortages in the market, resulting in lower supply at a time when demand for devices remains high. “We definitely need memory pricing and supply to return to reasonable levels for consumer products. That’s the bottom line,” Cook said. Cook also added that Apple is ready to use its vast cash reserves to help boost supply in the market because additional production capacity is needed. While he declined to specify how Apple plans to do that, he said the company will not build its own memory and storage factories despite its financial resources and silicon expertise. Cook did not provide further details on the scale of the price increases or which Apple products would be affected, though iPads and Macs could see higher prices sooner than other products. Apple’s next product launch event is scheduled for September, when the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone. It remains unclear whether the upcoming iPhones will be affected by the price increases, but given the current memory shortage, higher prices seem increasingly likely. There is currently no clear timeline for the end of the memory shortage. Samsung, one of the world’s three largest memory chip manufacturers, recently said the shortage could persist for several more years.
    • Downloads does not equal actual usage, even less when the app is pre-installed in some Galaxy phones.
    • +1000 to this, don't understand why they added that margin around the top bar, even the close button is a PITA to click without aiming. Ofc, this is just preview and hopefully they will revert such odd UX decision before hitting final version.
