[Android] Blast Quest - Now on Google Play

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody!

I am working on a game for Android (Blastroid!) which I will first release for free (ad supported) until I feel it's good enough to justify a paid version (ad free).

The ads are limited to the main menu and sometimes you will see an ad before you start the game. In game there are no ads.

I'm looking for people who are willing to test the game for me, tell me what they think, what they'd change and report bugs to me. I know it currently doesn't run well on budget smart phones but I can only test on two devices. I need help to squash bugs and make the game interesting enough to play.

If you would like to be a test, add me on Google+ (mail [at] swouters.nl) and tell you you're from Neowin. I will add you to the Blastroid! Free alpha test group and

Thank you!

From the Google Developers Console I can add people to the Alpha test group for a Google+ community. If you don't want to use Google+, I cannot add you to the Google Play Alpha testers group, sorry.  :/

The game is progressing rapidly... I think I can have a first release ready within a month.

Please, help me by testing the game if you're interested!  :D It needs to be tested on more different devices.

I've renamed the game to Blasteroid! (added an e)

That's a temporary name, I've already decided on a final name for the game, but I'll need to register a domain name first.

Thanks to Dirty Larry, the game has new graphics. I'm still adding new features to the game... I'm hoping to finish the first release of the game in the coming weeks.

If you feel like helping me test the game, find me on Google+ (or send me a PM so I can find you on Google+) and I'll add you to the test group.

The game has been released into the Play Store. There's a free version with ads, and a paid version without ads. Also, the name of the game is now Blast Quest:

Please, let me know what you think.  :woot:

Hi MillaPhallus, thank you for showing interest in my game. It is indeed a space shooter.

I'm working on version 1.2 at the moment, which will add more power-ups and which will make the environment more interesting. I'll make a gameplay video for version 1.2 once it's done.

Unfortunately the yearly costs for releasing anything on iOS are pretty high. I've got the iOS port pretty much working but I won't release it unless I make enough money with the android version. To give you an idea: Right now I've sold 1 copy and I've made

The next version for Android is greatly optimized, I'm getting 60fps on my good old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 now, where I had to limit the game to 30fps before.

The port to Windows 8 (desktop/tablet) is nearly finished, I will probably submit it this weekend. It will be in the Windows 8 store for

Hi jhu78, thank you for the link.

Unfortunately, that's only valid if you develop a game with Unity... I'm using GameMaker Studio to make my game.

I've just finished the game trailer for the next update. The update will be in the play store later this week.

Please, let me know what you think:

    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
