802.11b SDIO for Palm?

Recommended Posts

i've been looking for the same thing, and i'm not turning anything up. i think sandisk will have their drivers out soon, but they were originally supposed to be released like 6 months ago and they've continued to push them back. can't be too sure that their new release date will be honored.

Here an explanation....

Looks like the driver for Palm OS is pushed back until this month, and probably will be pushed back further.

I was wondering if these devices will allow you to scan for wireless hotspots, or will they be like the Sony CF adapter where you much type in the name of the hotspot you want to link up to (so you need to find out their name to link up with them)?

I have given up waiting for a WiFi card for a Palm handheld so I returned my Tungsten E and I am going to get a PPC. The PalmOS is nicer to use but Palm are not even trying to keep there users :(

They release a Bluetooth SD card but they refuse to make driver for PalmOS 5.x so it doesn't work with the Tungsten E and then SanDisk say that they can't write drivers for the 802.11b SD card so I was left totally connectionless :( I love my Tungsten E, I originally got it so I could have seperate hardware for bluetooth, WiFi, etc. sadly that won't be happening :( I think I am gonna get the HP iPAQ H4150/4155 as it has WiFi and Bluetooth built in and was very nice to use when I had a play with it in John Lewis yesterday. Just a shame it isn't running PalmOS :(

I guess I'm not to worried about it. I have a Sony Clie (NX73V) and the Wi-Fi card, it works great. There is also a memory stick bluetooth adapter for it, but since I have no bluetooth devices I have no use for it. Also the new Sony Clies (UX models) have Wi-Fi and bluetooth built in (well the UX50 does). So you can have built in Wi-Fi and bluetooth and still keep Palm OS.

@deadmonkey: it's not palm that's ditching their users. it's sandisk. palm isn't the one making the wifi card, so they shouldn't be expected to write the drivers for it. they wrote the wifi drivers for the integrated wifi in the tungsten c because they made it. don't get mad at palm, get mad at sandisk.

    • There is a lot of reasons not to use Edge but faster fixes and security updates is not one of them.
    • Can't reproduce. I installed Edge, went to neowin.net > accepted the cookie consent > used menu to go to forums, everything loads and I can browse around the forums. If you can't interact with the dialog on the forums for some reason, go to the main site and accept the cookie consent there? It is true that the site will not function properly until the cookie consent is accepted or rejected,. it's a legal requirement and I also know that certain VPN/ad blockers block it, which is a user related issue and not a neowin.net problem.   This is not our cookie consent dialog. Gotta love browser hijacking... /s Edit: this may be what Californians see, I will confirm with our consent provider.
