This is how you'll charge a Moto 360 smartwatch

We've known for some time that Motorola's Moto 360 smartwatch will include Qi wireless charging, but Italian blog Mister Gadget has given us a first look at how exactly that'll work. A small dock will hold the Moto 360 in place, allowing it to charge on your bedside table or desk while keeping the display visible and level. There's also a neat animation that consists of a blue circle that slowly fills as the watch charges. It seems like a good alternative to finicky charging cables, but we'll have to reserve judgement until trying the dock for ourselves.

The battery would have to last at least months (i.e. it would have to work as well as a normal watch battery) to get me even remotely interested in a smartwatch.

Its a trade-off. I don't mind charging my pebble every 4-5 sleeps in exchange of never needing to dig my phone out to see whos calling/deny it, to read text messages, change songs, or the view the first few words of emails. If I disable the connectivity it lasts several weeks. I dropped 10% charge in one week while on vacation without my phone. extrapolating I should get 8-9 weeks without charge, as it yells below 20%. I don't know about the Moto's runtime, but I'm certain if you disable the 'smart' abilities, if possible, it'll last quite a while longer.

One of the bigger things I wouldn't mind a smartwatch is the fitness side, most gadget rich fitness sports watches have very similar battery lengths. In fact I'm sure I found one that with all the GPS/Bluetooth functionality enabled had a batter life of around 6 hours.

If I can use this to track things like my heart rate and distance/time/speed etc and maybe even skip tracks I'm not enjoying and get a days battery life I'm all for it :D

Saw more images of the 360 and the plastic they are using kills the watch for me.  Looked much better with the silver/metal edges in previous pics.  The plastic just takes it down a few levels.

I dont mind plastic on phones, but watches are different.

Won't there still be metal options to choose from? I've got to agree about the metal styling. Even with the size of this thing, this watch has the styling that you could rock with formal wear; hell, maybe even with a tux.

well thats obviously unrealistic so you will have to remain not interested in a smartwatch

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
