Recommended Posts

Hy. I wish to install Windows 7 SP1 trial on my friends computer but something wierd happends. After choosing boot primary device and restart..it comes back to bios and nothing happends. So it won't boot from usb drive. Here are the files that have been transfered to the stick..which could be the trick?

- also.. for Windows 7 SP1 is the latest addition? No SP2 actually available ?

Thanks!

You also need to run DISKPART and mark the partition on the USB stick as active. Then you need to go to a command prompt, change into the BOOT directory on the Windows 7 installation media and run BOOTSECT /NT60 X: where X is the drive letter of your usb stick

DISKPART

Click Start, type in CMD and press <enter>

Type in DISKPART and press <enter>

Type in LIST DISK and press <enter>

Type in SELECT DISK x where x is the disk number from the previous step and press <enter>

Type in SELECT PARTITION 1 and press <enter>

Type in ACTIVE and press <enter>

Type in EXIT and press <enter>

BOOTSECT

From the command prompt, type in X: where x is the drive letter of your Windows 7 installation media and press <enter>

Type in CD BOOT  and press <enter>

Type in BOOTSECT /NT60 X: where x is the drive letter of your USB stick and press <enter>

That should do it...

Type EXIT <enter> at that screen.

Then navigate to the CD drive / mounted ISO you copied the installation files from. So if in Windows Explorer it's on D: drive, then type in D: <enter> at the command prompt, then CD\BOOT <enter>, then BOOTSECT /NT60 X: <enter> where X is the drive letter of your USB stick, which you should also be able to see from Windows Explorer.

well.. windows has been formatted and it gives me that error if I boot from ssd where new install is.. but the installation files are on .. E drive..and the USB stick was on G..startup repair from W7 setup won't do the job?

I quess.. cause after install process copied the files to ssd..required restart (boot from ssd now) and gived me that error. So the install process is not finished..but booting from ssd.. :|

* no error was reported during install process.

Finally succeed.. but I realize that one partition from my hdd seems to be hidden.. how do I get it back ?

Thanks for all your efforts!

Can you right click the one not showing up and give it a drive letter?

Yes.. that did the trick but one more wierd thing happends..

If I choose as fist boot device the SSD with C: drive it gives me that bootmgr missing error.. If I let the HDD as first boot or even the .. usb stick it goes well..so it starts with o.s. from ssd even it's not set as first boot device.. now this gives me a bit more worry than I've expected..In rest..all seems ok now but.. any suggestion is welcome.

Ah I guess the deal here is that... um, you had OS on HDD before? So therefore it was first one even before, therefore it installed bootloader to HDD instead of SSD. Sort of missing the point of SSD in that case, since at bootup it still has to look HDD for bootloader.

Safer would have been to disconnect HDD for installation.

No.. it hasn't been installed on hdd before..it was on ssd all time. What can be done now? Probably if I'll disconnect hdd now it will give me that error again :D.. The wierd thing is that on first install all was pretty fine from A to .. Z.

Not sure you can easily move bootloader from HDD to SSD. Not sure, might be some way with EasyBCD, but if you're not too far in configuring new installation, I'd suggest to reinstall.

    • Microsoft admits one of the most crucial Outlook features is currently broken by Sayan Sen Microsoft is making some decent progress when it comes to Windows 11. Recently we have confirmed reports of some rather useful improvements landing in the next version of the OS, 26H2, wherein GPU driver TDR crashes may finally be fixed, plus the company is also allowing users to disable web content on the Search. On the Outlook front though things have not been so rosy. Last month in May we reported several problems affecting basic functionalities on the app. These included a problem where documents would open blank or corrupt themselves. Following that, Quick Steps, a very useful feature, would no longer work correctly, and finally, Microsoft acknowledged a problem wherein images would fail to load up properly inside the email. Microsoft had resolved those bugs later and almost exactly a month after we reported on them, the company has now admitted a new similarly basic issue, this time on Macs. Users recently started noticing that Outlook would no longer display email threads properly as the original message itself was not displayed. An affected user Tsoumpas, C (ngmb) nicely described the problem in a forum post they made on Microsoft's site. They wrote: "Description of the issue: After updating Outlook for Mac [Version 16.110 (26061317)] on 18/6/2026, replying to any email no longer includes the original message in the reply window. Prior to the update, replies correctly contained the original email text below my response. Expected behavior: The original message should be included in the reply, as in previous Outlook versions and according to the configured reply settings. Actual behavior: The reply window contains only a blank composition area (or only my response), with none of the original email text included." Obviously this must be a highly frustrating for users as noted by several in that thread. The post, at the time of writing, has also been upvoted by more than 40 users indicating that is a fairly widespread bug. Thankfully Microsoft seems to have acknowledged the problem right around that time as it opened a new issue on its official website. In the support article, the company recommends switching to Outlook for Mac from the legacy app, where the problem appears to be happening.
