FARMINGTON, Utah ?  A 76-year-old man who police say was sunbathing nude in his backyard next to a church parking lot in Utah has pleaded not guilty to lewdness charges.

The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/1uLJW30 ) that Myron Lee Kipp was in a Farmington, Utah, court Tuesday. Kipp pleaded not guilty to four counts of lewdness involving a child and three counts of lewdness.

Court documents show a police officer called to Kipp's house by neighbors on March 5 could see the man from the church parking lot. The backyard fence is chain link with no privacy slats.

When confronted, a completely nude Kipp told the officer it was his property and he could do what he wanted.

Several parents said they and their children could see the man from the parking lot.

Oh noes their childrens could see a naked man.

Nudity is something people should get over.

 

It doesn't sound like he went out of his way to make a display of himself.

 

He was laying quietly in his back yard.

 

Probably only 1 kid saw him, and called over 2 others.

 

Sooner or later those kids are going to see nude people.

 

I'd vote him not guilty.

Private property, don't look over. Of course the law is going to be against him though.

Private property does not give rights to break the law on it.

 

If the dude wants to do it, fine, but make it so others don't see it.  Then he isn't breaking the law.

If he wants to submarine nude, put up a privacy fence or go to a nude beach. Otherwise he's just a passive flasher.

 

I agree. But honestly is it worth spending tax payers money on that?

 

Give him a fine and ask him to put up a privacy fence.

 

I could be wrong but it looks like it's the first time he was caught doing it.

I personally think he shouldn't receive a serious sentence if (and most likely when) he's found guilty; I believe he should only receive a warning, apologize to the witnesses, and put up a privacy fence.

 

HOWEVER, if testimonies claim he was committing rather voyeuristic actions first (stretching in front of the fence) before or while sunbathing, then he should receive a more serious punishment (fine, jail time, etc).

i am glad you are not involved in law... it applies directly. Sorry you can't see the connection. Let me help... the two statements i quoted show a proposed reasoning of solution, which indeed would work for the action in question, but where could one apply that law? Where does one law end and the next begin? It's easiest just to have one blanket law to cover a wide range of actions , in this case, showing your sexual anatomy in public while on private property. The same would apply if you were masturbating/having sex in your chain linked back yard or on your front porch.

My answer is the same. Quit looking, move on, it's natural. Children shouldn't be protected from nature, just from malicious intent. Kids goto zoos and see monkeys jack off, etc. <-- Opinion

honestly you would be ok with your kids watching your next door neighbor having sex in his backyard?... you are one weird dude. Adults could turn away, kids would look.

Again, you're playing the "what if" game, and it's just not relevant.  The guy in question wasn't having sex or touching himself, he was just sunbathing.  You're attempting to foster false outrage by making it appear as if his "crime" were significantly worse than it is.

And public nudity, especially genital nudity, is illegal in most all of the US, so quit.

How not to be public and sunbathe? Privacy fence. Part of being a considerate neighbor and not getting on the sex offenders list.

 

I never said it wasn't, but charge him with the crime he committed without trying to make it out to be even worse by adding ridiculous "what if's" to it.

but i bet if something like this was involved in church (the church) ritual, most would turn the other cheek (no pun intended, well maybe a little) or it would be downright accepted.

      My experience in the past with older Windows 11 builds was not great on unsupported machines but I recently used Rufus to put the latest build on a older 5th Gen Core Thinkpad T that we upgraded with a SATA SSD and 8GB of RAM four years ago when hardware was reasonable and it seemed pretty fast and solid. Customer is very happy with the performance and will probably get four more years out of that venerable laptop that he loves so much. Another customer just retired his Dell Studio laptop from 2009 running Windows 10. It got an SSD over 10 years ago and did everything he needed it to for 17 years but he also retired last year and is happy doing everything on his iPad now.
